Going to see NZ play Philippines tomorrow night here in NZ for the world cup. We’re not a football nation but great to support our home team
A perfect plum… the unicorn of fruit. I also love them and can’t remember the last time I had one.
I recently spotted a black hair tie on the sidewalk in my neighbourhood , I looked around to see if anyone is looking and just put it in my pocket .
not a tiny bit of remorse
so this is very common I understand now !
Love this! I am constantly picking them up, and my daughters are always horrified (ewww, gross, Mom!) I feel so seen.
Hair ties are like take a penny / give a penny!
Jennifer, My daughter is alwasy disturbed by the way I gather up all the abandoned hair ties from the swimming pool locker room floor into a pile on the bench by the shower. But when she realizes she forgot her hair tie? Look, there’s one! (I have to tell her it came out of my pocket, though, lol)
On the topic of coming across fun old timey words: I’m a scientist and whenever I’m reading an old book and they use the word “animalcule” I just go insane with happiness and check to see when the book was written. In the brief window between discovering microorganisms and really learning about and classifying them, they went by animalcules and I really really wish we had never stopped. It’s so cute! “What is this? It looks like a molecule that’s alive like an animal!” (They might be the original Branjelina.)
I’m reading Middlemarch right now and came across this word! I agree, it is cute!
Oh cool, I love this; thank you for sharing it here! I’m already looking forward to stumbling upon this word in my reading.
Nailed it, as usual. So excited for our USWNT to rock it in this World Cup, going for three in a row. Go USA!
P.S. you should do a feature about the US team or some of the young stars during this tournament.
I’m an Australian cheering for our Matilda’s (the Australian women’s team) but I too would love to see this feature! The US women’s team are incredible for what they’ve done for female football (and sport in general). They’re are incredible athletes and role models for young girls.
Who says ‘Rusticating’ has had its day? Check this out: https://bibleofbritishtaste.com/go-wild-in-the-contry-with-luke-edward-hall

Ha! Love Luke Edward Hall, thanks for sharing
Hair ties! Sometimes I play games with my girls to see who can find the most around the house – they are everywhere!!
Same at our house but with Bobby pins. :)
