By the wonderful Grace Farris.
P.S. New hobbies to consider and the cozy pants drawer.
Hi Grace Farris!
Thanks btw
These moments are really meant to be. ?
Coming here real quick to say: 2blackgirls1rose is the BEST Bachelor/ette podcast out there! “Funny” and “Illuminating” is underselling it! If you aren’t sure you’re ready for a Patreon subscription, go check out their older recaps for Arie or Becca’s season to get a sample of what you’ve been missing and how worth your $5 their content is. Or hit up their insta or twitter!
Also, Sharleen Joynt does the BEST written recaps in town on her website ‘Pretty Pandas’. She is thoughtful, very well-spoken/written, obsessed with style, and super analytical. She was a contestant many years ago (she was the opera singer who sent herself home on Juan Pablo’s season, back when ‘sending yourself home’ was unheard of) so she has a wonderful insight into where producers may be manipulating situations, and editors are stitching things together to make them more outrageous.
Looking forward to checking out your recap recommendation as well! It’s tough for us secret fans who can’t admit to our friends ;)
NAILED IT! LOL’ing over here.
Tiny scholars! This is the cutest term and it might just help me through the rest of my day. Ex: “Oh, that’s just my tiny scholar with an important inquiry again. “
Grace always nails it!
I love the mom’s expression here.
Anyone else feeling like this is all just too much lately? Between the extreme cold, the 11 months of homeschooling while also working from home and news about the mutations, I’ve really had it!
What’s helping everyone hang on?
I feel you, Kelly, even though I don’t have children, so I most likely have it way easier than you do.
I don’t know why I felt compelled to reply, but I thought I’d shared what has helped me a lot recently. Taking some time every morning to meditate and journal with my first cup of coffee ( I call that my little morning devotion) has brought me a lot of joy. I’m into oracle cards, and I find that they help giving a meaning to my day and to approach what happens to me in the perspective of growth. I find that even hard days make more sense in that way. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and obviously it is more challenging when there are little ones demanding your time and attention, but I thought I’d share anyway. Epsom salt baths at night have become quite the ritual for me (especially during these cold months in crazy cold Montreal), and I might have started and habit of teaching from home with a hot water bottle against my back (my students do not need to know!!).
Anyway, if any of these ideas help you , that’s great, but if nothing I said is helpful to you, please know that I hope things will get sweeter for you SOON! Take care!
We have one VERY frisky “co-worker” who isn’t shy about using claws and teeth if he feels like he’s not getting your attention.
And those snacks. They never stop calling. ;-D
My biggest distraction is novels… so tempting to crack them open during breaks and get sucked in…
Yes, Grace! These distractions are real!
My latest novel seems to call me, quite literally by name!
???
I’m dying over “chatty snacks”. Ha, so true!
literally any house chores that were neglected in the before times. Baseboards? Deep clean of the shower? Reorganizing clothes? Cleaning out cultery drawer? Why yes, you do seem more important than my work.
This is 100% me. My bedroom is also my office which sometimes makes it too easy to say, oh, I’ll just do this one task because I’m within eyesight of my desk.
woke up this morning and thought “woo hoo, it’s grace farris day!” wonderful as usual!
I have no tiny scholars (or bigger ones, either), but the rest of the cartoon applies! My frisky co-worker is a toy poodle, the snacks are VERY chatty, and my plants are quite needy. I look forward to Grace Fridays on Cup of Jo.
Laundry. Piles and piles of laundry. My Facebook friends say it’s time to teach the kids how to do it (11 and 13).
Absolutely! My kids (11, 8, 5) fold their own (the 5 year old with some assistance). It’s a huge help and good for them ;)
My oldest is tiny for her age, so physically loading laundry into the machines would be a challenge for her, so we haven’t gone there yet. But an average height 13 year old and probably 11 year old could manage, I think.
My mom taught me how to do laundry in 6th grade (mainly because I’d put clothes in the hamper that weren’t actually dirty…) She wrote down the instructions on a 3×5” card and that was that. My mother in law, however, did my husband’s and sister in law’s laundry until they graduated high school. ??♀️ Different ways of doing things! Neither right nor wrong.
Including the cooling pillows Joanna bought for every bed in the house.
We never leave home without this...
Never not in the mood for 13 Going on 30. By the lovely Grace Farris.
