Beautiful Children’s Wallpaper

After 15 years of renting apartments — and not being allowed to hang wallpaper — I was thrilled when we moved to our current apartment and could try some out! Here are a few beauties…

Thoughts? Do you have any wallpaper you love?

P.S. More pretty children’s wallpaper, and amazing shared kids’ rooms.

  1. Full confession – I take screenshots of wallpaper to use as my phone wallpaper. It makes me smile and I love the pretty patterns!

  2. Whoever came up with the idea of wallpapers is a genius and has a special seat in heaven, lol….they are soo great.

Last year our then-6-year old twins moved into their own bedrooms, and my daughter requested “dragon” wallpaper in hers. I was skeptical but then found this one — and we did it one wall:

She loves it and so do I. Also, tip — turns out there are less expensive places than Anthro to get this paper (although I love browsing the wallpapers on their site).

I’m literally about to order a mural from them. Did you do the install yourself or hire someone? I’m curious how difficult it is…

    • sara says...

Hannah, we hired someone. My husband wanted to try to do it ourselves, but I would like to stay married, so I veto’d that idea! I think it would be too much to do alone…. but I love the way it looks!!!

      Beautiful!

I would want one of these for my grown-up bedroom! I have so many memories of playing “in” the wallpapers, (my brother had a jungle book wallpaper, so amazing).

I just revisited your home tour, such a lovely aesthetic you have. I have to ask: did you ever find the remote to the big black box?

  6. sally says...

just bought a house and spent $4500 on 5 layers of wallpaper removal. Would only recommend the temporary sort. :)

We’re planning to use this in “ink” for the third floor bathroom of our 100+ year old home:

Hope it a lends a whimsical feel while remaining authentic to the age of our home. Planning to color match the navy shade for the ceiling and our clawfoot tub!

Did you ever find the missing remote??

    Sharks for Anton!

  10. Amanda says...

    Whoa, LOVE starry sky!

  11. Claire says...

Makes me want a house with a hundred rooms!

    • I always feel like that! I live in a one bedroom condo and would love a few extra rooms to decorate on someone else’s budget ;)

Contemplating being an expat renter for a few years and want to hear whether anyone has experience with removable wallpaper. We’ve used vinyl wall art before successfully (if walls are flat vs the bumpy plaster in our current owned house) but haven’t tried big murals or wall paper that is supposed to be removable. Move would be to a very rules enforcing country so don’t want to get it wrong. What has been your experience?

      Welcome to Singapore ;)

    The starry sky! Perfect!

Some of my favorite wallpaper for kids AND adults is from Makelike Studio in Portland, Oregon. I put the tree paper in my son’s room, and it’s like he’s sleeping in a forest. http://www.makelike.com/wallpaper

Love those sharks!!!! Wish my boys were little again!!! That could be fun in a bathroom on one wall?!

    • Amanda says...

I really love that idea! Even if the rest of your house doesn’t lean toward whimsical, a bathroom is a good place to have a little fun :)

  16. Sara says...

OMG that Kate Zaremba wallpaper is amazing. I ordered a poster-sized 24″ x 36″ avocado piece to hang in my kitchen.
I don’t have terrible painful memories of removing the wallpaper in our 118 year old house because it came off in FULL SHEETS. The guy who hung it signed the wall behind it and I can understand why, because he’s legendary in our house now.

    • Joanna Goddard says...

I love that you’re making a poster, what a great idea!

      Beautiful!

The starry night OMG you have created a need in me now

  18. Cynthia says...

After peeling off two layers of old-fashioned paper wall paper including ceilings, I don’t want it for my self. I still need to take off the wallpaper in my sewing room, but I keep putting it off, because, again, 2 layers plus ceiling. We painted over it 36 years ago when our first was born. I like it in other people’s homes, and there are pretty patterns today, but it’s not for me.

    • Colleen S says...

Glad I’m not the only one.

    • Jill Palumbo says...

Me too! I’m older (63) and lived through the 80’s where we wallpapered everything! It’s pretty to look at, but too hard to change.
