Good News

Here here! I may be biased as someone who’s thrifted ever since she relied on a $2/week allowance, but there’s nothing like the hunt! Especially with all the ways in which the internet has opened up options for pre-loved fashion.
And what about vintage shops? Or taking a piece already in your closet to a tailor so it ends up fitting impeccably?

These are all cute styles, sure, but tiny steps in the sustainable direction feel pretty great too!

Same, girl. I only purchase from brands that sell ethically and sustainably-made clothing (Everlane is a new favorite) but I also mainly shop secondhand (esp. because it’s so much more budget friendly). To me, “good news” is more along the lines of “people are finally realizing how bad fast fashion is for the earth” instead of “here’s some stuff you can buy”. Just my two cents.

Absolutely! Thrifting is more fun, and SO much is wasted with the ridiculous amount of the consumerism of buying excessive new clothing.

It’s a good day for my husband when the most expensive thing he’s wearing are his underwear! I usually top out at bras or shoes :) We buy almost all of our clothes at thrift stores or on major discounts at outlets or online. What I love most is that I don’t feel bad donating a piece once I’m tired of it because I didn’t pay much to begin with!

It would be really fun to see a beauty week or week of outfits from Lauren Singer, who started Trash is for Tossers and Package Free Shop. She’s amazing, and just posted on her instagram today or yesterday (@trashisfortossers) about vintage shopping instead of buying new. She’s really fantastic, and would be such a great person to interview for the blog!

They only offer THREE clothing items for a size 16, and most of the options for size 14 are underwear.

I’m thrift store 100% and thanks to Marie Kondo, thrift stores have been bringing it lately! Scored a pair of new Everlane Heel Boots AND 1000 mile wolverine booties in my size this past weekend. …and a pair of brand new nike air’s for my bf (in his size, AND favorite color – army green!)

Heh, guys I WORK at a thrift store and let me tell ya, the second that Marie Kondo doc hit Netflix, our intake has been up like four times as much as normal! IT’S REAL!

I’ve never spent $800 on clothing at one time.. I sew, shop sales , and shop thrift stores. I repair favorite garments rather than replace. I go shopping in my closet and create new outfits with pieces I already own. It’s easy to get locked into the same combinations all the time.
