I had a good laugh after seeing that your random baby gift is the same as mine. It seems odd but is such a lifesaver! I insist all new parents I know receive one.

I am pregnant and was sick in bed last week. I tried to watch Downton Abbey but just could not get into it! What’s weird is that I am totally the demographic that would love it but I just found it generally boring. I was so surprised by this!

Hahaha- yes! With a year and half of motherhood under my belt, I can say that silly snotsucker has been one of the most helpful devices I was given (gross sounding as it is).

Also- one of my education professors had the coolest way to get to know the kids, similar to the questions-for-attendence. The first week of school, she asked each student for their favorite song. Then, each following week one of those songs was the “song of the week.” It played during transitions or clean up times and worked both as a natural timer (kids learned when the song was wrapping up and they needed to finish too!) and a way to better get to know their community of fellow students. At the end of the year, she burned CDs so the class had all those songs. Sweet, and each student felt rather grown up/taken seriously because something they had recommended was used.

Sorry to hear about Anton! Hope he is feeling better soon. New things can be tough, whether you are five or fifty.

I love BOTH of the reader comments. When I read Cara’s comment the other day “how tender can we bear to be?” I was struck by the simple, beautiful question and it stayed with me for hours. I love Colleen’s, too-what a unique way for her son’s teacher to take attendance! My father was a public relations executive and he always told me that people (#1) like to hear their names, and (#2) want to talk about themselves. What a great way to make those kids feel important!

I can’t wait for the Downton movie too! And I’ve been dying to know if you watch Poldark, Joanna! With your family ties to Cornwall- do you have an opinion on the show? I confess that I am a bit taken with Ross Poldark

I ALWAYS give new parents a Nose Frieda (or three) as a baby gift. As a pediatrician, I swear that come cold and influenza season this keeps so many infants out of the hospital; but, parents always skip over it when planning for their infants.

My favorite was when our neighbor had their first and she was visibly disgusted when I told her how to use it (you suck on the attached tube to remove mucus, a filter keeps it from going into your mouth). Four months later when baby had a cold, she said he would ONLY sleep after using the Nose Frieda. I love, LOVE, LOVE!!! this product! (I promise I don’t own stock- it is just that amazing).

No wonder I’ve been so out of sorts lately and discontent. There are a lot of changes happening outside of my control and it’s stressing me out. Apparently instability does not mix with my ISFJ personality.

DOWNTON ABBEY! My favorite watching experience of my entire life except for the terrible parts that still haven’t healed in my heart. We named our baby girl Cora. I had no idea there was a movie coming out. Such good news!
