I daydream about living in my luxury model off-grid eco home on acreage surrounded by Nature. My neighbors live on a long unpaved path through the woods and across a field or two and they are both conscious educated and kind and they love me. The neighbor on the other side is a handsome, accomplished, single man who is very interested in me. One day our properties will become one, haha, after a long enjoyable courtship from each of our respective homes. I want this to be true, needless to say.
The other daydream I’ve had for years is of me delivering my acceptance speech at the Oscars for producing directing and probably writing a culture shifting blockbuster movie. I’ve had this daydream for such a long time but I am not in the movie industry nor am I a writer. I wouldn’t even know where to begin.
Everyone have lots of dream in their childhood. I am 26 year old right now and i trying my best to complete my dream.
Thanks for this post.
Personally, I do believe that we are all child in these big universes and we don’t act as old too much but many creators are describing to follow this but also not successful to do that.
Childhood dream: To do a handless cartwheel like the orphans with the braids in Annie.
Adulthood dream: Same.
I think I’m still a kid because the childhood dreams is exactly like me except perfect nail :) I like it when I was young but now I doesn’t care about my nail anymore.
I love this illustration! Brings a smile to my face after a long day (and week). Thank you!
I just interviewed the author Alexander McCall Smith for The Food Podcast and asked him this very question- what does the author of the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series dream about? He told me that sometimes he imagines he is on centre court at Wimbledon, winning, and his friends are equally astonished and impressed. We’re all the same, aren’t we? Except my dream sport was gymnastics, and I was 8 when I had that daydream. But it’s still in there somewhere…
My bucket list has gotten a bit shorter with age and some awesome experiences. My f@#k it list has definitely grown.
Honestly, unlimited ice cream is still my dream (perhaps more like unlimited ice cream without unlimited calories).
Right? Having ice cream for dinner is the best part of being an adult!
Yes!! This takes me back to my childhood, smiling as I type …
so true, so true, so true!!! so fun, so fun, so fun!!! So Mari, is your work just from regular observances or do you ‘do research?’ because…..every.single.time. …it’s ‘spot on.’ just goes to show you how much we’re mostly like each other!
Yes! I am really feeling the “reasons to dress up” lately. I’ve been trying to reduce my wardrobe where possible, but I don’t want to give up any of my nice dresses even though I don’t really attend very many nice events. And, I always see new beautiful dresses that I want to buy. And, I know I’ve felt this way as long as I can remember :)
Another intersection between childhood dreams and adult dreams: all you can eat pizza
Haha, this rings true for most girls I think. Spot on!
I love the intersection! It’s so true, I’ve always dreamed of silk pjs! xAllie
“Attend chill dinner party.” Yessssss
How does she know?!
Definitely perfect nails. This winter has taken a toll on mine. I feel like I need to wear Miss Piggy gloves!
Nailed it.
huh? i never gave my nails a second thought as a kid. interesting…
Haha, treating my nieces (13 and 11) to manis and pedis is one of my favorite things! Not sure it’s something they worry about perfecting, but they definitely get excited when I offer and love the ritual as much as I do. I think that’s why I like it so much – it’s something all three of us genuinely enjoy doing together, and there aren’t many activities that holds true for.
On the other hand, living with my parents forever was the exact opposite of my childhood dreams…
I still don’t as a 30 year old woman! All I care about is keeping them short!
Including upgraded tuna salad and a kitchen-sink sandwich.
The Bugaboo executive talks about meaningful jewelry and workwear that feels fun.
Including kids taking photos on vacation and an easy breakfast, if you're tired.
