Four Fun Things

On scale of psyched to really psyched, how pumped are you that Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming back? As we await the October 1st premiere, we’ve been loving the first season of the Origins podcast, which explores the show’s history through hilarious interviews with the cast. Larry even explains where the iconic theme song came from: a bank commercial. “There was something circus-y about it, it’s the kind of music that… I like to get away with things, comedically, and sometimes music can help in that regard,” he says. Highly recommended if you are looking for a laugh.

If you are looking to up your work lunch game, try these PB&J hacks. Ideas range from adding potato chips for some crunch (yes) and trying a different duo, like almond butter with pumpkin butter (double yes).

Super Marché vintage home store

Super Marché, the new online vintage home shop curated by Victoria Smith (aka the blogger SF Girl by Bay), is really beautiful. Each of the treasures — from pink pitchers to rattan daybeds — were sourced in the flea markets of Southern France.

Rihanna’s new Fenty Beauty line offers 40 different shades of foundation — something no other beauty brand has come close to before. “I wanted things that girls of all skin tones could fall in love with,” the singer said. “That was really important for me. In every product, I was like: ‘There needs to be something for a dark-skinned girl; there needs to be something for a really pale girl; there needs to be something in-between.'” With her shade finder, models with different skin tones can help you figure out your own. Within the first four days, many of the dark shades sold out at Sephora stores, which demonstrates the serious buying power of women of color.

Wow super marche is super pricey! I can’t imagine those items being even close to that much if you saw them in France….

  2. My dear friend, Steve, grew up eating “PBJCPs” — peanut butter, jelly, cheese and pickle sandwiches. I’ve been appalled by his love for this for roughly 12 years, and then finally (thanks to a couple gin and tonics) caved and made it as a late night snack…. …. And it’s amazing! Dill pickle chips and a slice of sharp cheddar are the best, I have found. You get the crunch from the pickles along with the increased salty factor, and the cheese is somehow the perfect nutty/creamy complement to everything. If you’re feeling adventurous, give it a whirl!

(Or just judge me a bunch for a decade and then try it!)

Pretty, pretty, pretty psyched! Can’t wait for the Curb to come back!

Yeah, I thought the real problem was that, even when makeup lines offer an extensive range of shades, a lot of stores opt not to carry the darker shades. Or only carry 1 or 2 bottles of the darker shades, so they sell out immediately and the ladies who don’t get there early are out of luck. I wonder what the stock at Sephora was like. It will be interesting to see if all 40 shades are available at all stores.

  4. Nancey says...

I love you Larry! my ringtone is the curb theme and every time my phone rings it makes people smile. Needless to say I am counting the minutes.

My Dad and I watched every single solitary Curb episode together and then he passed away and he left me all of his DVDs, they are my most treasured collection. Also my Dad is his lookalike. no joke, people would stop us on the street and say I LOVE YOU LARRY! hahah.

yes to the pb & J and chips, separately or together.

    • Joanna Goddard says...

oh my gosh, i love all of this nancey! you and your dad sound like you had an awesome connection.

  5. Mimi says...

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm even though I often cringe and have to hide my face in a pillow while watching!

  6. Shelleyre says...

Cannot wait for Curb your enthusiasm!! I missed Larry so much. Strange as it sounds, he reminds me of my wedding day. Just before my husband and I got married 8 years ago we were completely absorbed with watching the series. So on our wedding day we had the manager of our venue play the theme song from the show as walked through the tables of all our friends and family at the beginning of our wedding dinner. It was the perfect mix of cheesy/silly to loosen us up. Though we had a wonderfully romantic day both myself and my husband are not that comfortable in the limelight and each of us has just a touch of cynicism coursing through our veins. The music made us think of Larry, which might be a bit weird on your wedding day, but it acted like a little wink between both of us to ground us in the moment and remind us to enjoy the absurdity of it all. So now it’s like our theme song too!

    • Joanna Goddard says...

oh my gosh, that’s amazing, shelley! you guys sound awesome. LOVE that.

    • Sarah says...

I absolutely love this! And I totally get it!

  7. Love the upgraded PB&Js! I’ve been OBSESSED with Pecan Date Butter + Lavender Honey! Holy Moly it’s mindblowing. I stumbled across “Abby’s Better Nut Butter” (no relation to me-also Abby) at a specialty food store in Charlotte and now I pick up a few jars every time I’m visiting. Here’s her website if you’d like to order online or see where she sells: https://abbysbetter.com/ She’s a teenager and has to be a rockstar. I still want to try the Coffee Almond flavor. All her butters are all natural, with no additives or preservatives and just simple ingredients list- Coconut oil, sea salt and whatever the flavor is. Done, simple, perfect. Love supporting a young entrepreneur too!

    • Sasha says...

Those nut butters look yummy, thank you for sharing!

  8. Julie says...

Also love tuna sandwiches with chips of any kind—nacho cheese Doritos are especially good. Just try it guys.

    • Joanna Goddard says...

YES! i 100% agree. chips make any sandwich better.

  9. Kate says...

My mom packed me a lunch every day in grade school. One day I thought “I’m going to put potato chips on my PB&J! That’s always so good!” so I opened it up before getting on the bus and found chips and put them in my sandwich so it’d be ready for me in the afternoon. Unfortunately, it turns out potato chips get really soggy after sitting in between peanut butter and jelly for 5 hours…it was not exactly the treat I’d imagined by the time lunch came around!

  10. Heidi says...

PB&J with potato chips is the best. This is what we would pack for the beach in the summer growing up in San Diego!

    • thank you, Jordana!

  11. O about Curb. Haha. I just could never get behind it. But we all have our favorites – just ask me how excited I’d be if they brought back Carnivale on HBO.

The pbj hacks though 😵. It would be fun to surprise husband by making him a PBAJ sandwich!

  12. I love me a good PB & J, so I’ll definitely have to give some of those variations a try! I’ve also been meaning to start watching Curb Your Enthusiasm for a while now, it’s got such a great cast. Awesome to hear that it’s coming back! I’m personally very exited for new episodes of Will & Grace ☺️

  13. Incredibly pumped for the return of Curb Your Enthusiasm! Yay for Victoria Smith’s pretty new shop!

  14. Courtney says...

This post was a sign! I bought delicious seeded bread, local strawberry rhubarb jam, and yummy peanut butter to have on hand for easy lunches. I debated if they were healthy enough or included enough veggies but reading this post made me feel much better about my decision! :)

    • Use natural, no sugar added jam for something healthier

  15. Psyched about Fenty beauty, brought home a few foundation samples to try out because it offers so many colors I wasn’t sure which to buy! Also, my fave PB&J variation is cashew butter and coconut butter on whole wheat potato bread. Oh man is it good!

  16. Mimi says...

When I was pregnant I was all about toasted PB&J with a slice or two of bacon. I still crave it sometimes. Salty-sweet, with a little crunch, yum.
Maybe I’ll make one when the new episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm comes out (SO excited!)

    • Joanna Goddard says...

that’s so cute, mimi! i always craved cereal — i would wake up at 2am desperate for cheerios! must have been something in them :)

    • Meredith says...

12 weeks pregnant and currently loving both Cheerios and PBJ! :)

  17. Sarah says...

Even Larry David’s face/expression makes me laugh. I would say I am super psyched for the season to start.

    • Joanna Goddard says...

      i’m the same way!

  18. Lily says...

    Yes to the Rihanna line!
