Who do you follow on Instagram? Here are eight feeds we can’t get enough of…

Above: Run by a French bookstore, Librarie Mollat made us do a second take. (Don’t they look so real?)

Quarter Life Poetry features short poems about being in your twenties, for better or worse. (This one rang particularly true.)

8 Cool Instagram Feeds

Ben Wagner, a “Midwest kid in NYC” takes gorgeous shots of his life and travels. Museums, cars, even oranges — it’s fascinating to see the world through a graphic designer’s eyes.

The Dogist shares photos of pups, along with quotes from their owners — such as, “He hates leaving the house and also hates coming back to the house.”

Photographer Daniel Arnold captures real life in New York. That shot on the top right takes my breath away. Also, Jon Hamm!

8 Cool Instagram Feeds

Land of Women, the lingerie brand by Mckenzie Raley (of house tour and week of outfits fame), features photographs of women — no stomach sucking required — that feel warm, sexy and empowering.

Poet Nayyirah Waheed can break your heart with a handful of words. (She also has two books.)

Christopher David Ryan

Maine-based illustrator Christopher David Ryan draws playful illustrations on newspapers and catalogs. So clever!

What would you add? Any Instagram feed you’re loving these days? I’m at @joannagoddard, if you want to be friends! :)

P.S. More fun Instagram feeds, and stories about strangers.

  1. Mary says...

I have been so moved by the uplifting and compassionate artwork by @oshrihakak. I find his work to be so spiritually nourishing!

  2. Mary says...

I have been so moved by the uplifting and compassionate artwork created by @oshrihakak.

  3. My feed is half real friends half inspiration, love Instagram so much for that! Have to mention @sarahandersencomics for when you need some humor/life observations, @andrewknapp for his adventures with his dog Momo (and gorgeous photography), and @elijackson for some seriously amazing travel photography.

  4. I love these so much! It’s so crazy how something like Instagram, and general social media, can allow such creative visions to come together and be shared :) I’m a huge fan of Nayyirah Waheed’s feed — always so inspiring! xx

  5. Thanks for the feature! Honored to be in such good company :)

  6. So many great tips! I can’t get enough of @petesouza right now – no explanation needed!

    ;-) @minipiccolini

    • Carrie says...

I probably should’ve opened that at work! lol

  7. Stephanie says...

Fun to check out some new feeds. Thanks for the suggestions! A couple I like because of their perspective and sense of humor (as a survival mechanism on both the good days and bad): author Nora McInerny @noraborealis and designer/writer Orlando Soria @mrorlandosoria.

  8. Kristin says...

Check out @cedrichedgehog – travelling (knit) hedgehog that pops up in different cities…interacting with interesting people, pets, places, and things. Very cute…

  9. Alexandra says...

@drawings_for_my_grandchildren is the CUTEST account! He’s a grandpa in Brazil who draws little pictures for his grandkids in Korea and NY every day and the grandma writes the captions. It will melt your heart!

  10. Ismah says...

Mollat is my favourite bookstore in the world. If you are ever in Bordeaux, you have to go there. Absolutely beautiful!

  11. Fiona says...

My fave right now is @cakeofdreams for the most GORGEOUS sparkly, epic, rock and roll deliciousness you can imagine! Shiny, happy, edible works of art!

    • Joanna Goddard says...

      she is amazing, thank you!

  12. Oh these are too cute! Definitely didn’t know about a couple of these – thanks for sharing them with us!

  13. Ahhh I’m so in love with these! The thing I love most about Instagram is exactly this; stumbling upon such talented and creative people that bring such cool concepts to their feed and content.
The Quarter Life Poetry one is pure GOLD, and it led me to Mari Andrew’s account (@bymariandrew) and I love her stuff too! You should totally check it out if you haven’t already. Ben Wagner’s feed is actually everything my feed aspires to look like :’) And The Land of Women one looks really raw and empowering. It’s not the type of account I’d follow personally, but I still admire it.
Thanks so much for these suggestions!

    Joanne

  14. so good!! Lovely feeds ! Thank you

  19. Jennifer says...

Check out saltyseattle. AMAZING and so fun!

  20. Robin says...

Love the land of women feed! That nursing bra looks so lovely. I’ve never been able to find one I liked. I’m on baby number two and nursing is going great (thank goodness, I’ve been lucky) but the bras drive me crazy! I clicked around the site thinking there’s no way I can get these bras here and lo and behold one of the two stores that carry them is around the corner from my house! I’m leaving on a big trip Thursday and still have SO MUCH to do but a detour to pick up a comfier bra my be worth the time … ;)

    • Sera says...

Bonds breastfeeding singlets will save you. I want to wear them when I’m NOT feeding! They make your boobs look great, are super comfy, look great alone, and perfect under clothes too.

  21. Abbey says...

@hankandtaylor A friend’s seamless integration of Taylor Swift into a child’s life. It is hilarious.

  22. Soph says...

What lovely feeds Jo, thank you!

You HAVE to follow @tastemade_Japan! It’s a cooking show that does Japanese recipes, in Japanese, and they are elaborate and BEAUTIFUL (and sometimes very weird to a Westerner!). My boyfriend and I love to watch them tucked in bed without translating the captions, and try to guess what the ingredients are. It’s so comforting and odd at the same time!

    • Robin says...

So pretty! And great practice for my Japanese ;). Thank you for sharing!

  23. Alexis Davis says...

I live in Utah and follow our local Special Collections library @BYUSpecColl, but pretty much any Special Collections Instagram account is super cool — @americanantiquarian, @metlibrary, @themorganlibrary, etc… The whole community has the cutest hashtags! For example, every Tuesday is #TinyTuesday and they post the cutest little books!!! :) :)

  24. Sam says...

I just found a cool account called @fivefavoritethings and I’m totally obsessed with it. It’s fun because they accept submissions and it’s genuinely interesting to see what people love about life. It’s still relatively new, but following does the soul good so everyone should do it

    • Lucy says...

No way, you follow them too? Great minds think alike!

  25. Lucy says...

@fivefavoritethings ! It’s still a young feed, but it is terrific — a collection of people and the things in life that bring them joy. It’s totally uplifting (helps me focus on the good in the world) and also unifying — no matter who is featured on a given day, I always find myself relating to or appreciating one of their five favorite things!

  26. Heather says...

Cabinporn. Makes me want to buy 8 acres and build a tiny house.

  27. Sasha says...

If you like dogs, the dog hiking club and princess moneypenny and cute dog party are sweet and cute.

I follow a bunch of doll makers, a favourite is mon pilou.

I also really love intentionalism. It’s just a lovely peek into a home schooling, zero waste, Seattle mom, who is not about being perfect.

  28. @irisgottlieb, for her funny illustrations
@destijlindestad, for my daily fix of the de stijl movement
@christianespangsberg, for her beautiful contour drawings
@bertabernad_home and @septemberedit, for beautiful interiors
@mortenordstrom, because i spent a semester in copenhagen and i miss it dearly
& @visitfaroeislands, because i just spent a week traveling there with a boy, and i wish we were still there

also, for anyone deeply passionate about furniture: @midcenturygoldmine, an mcm meme account!

    • Joanna Goddard says...

      thank you for these, erin!

  29. Nikita says...

I’m digging mostly baked good instas like @cake_historian, @emcdowell, @awhiskandaspoon, and @ninecake lately!

  30. Joanna says...

Well, I just bought two books by poet Nayyirah Waheed – that’s going to be one of the discoveries of my year! Wonderfully ethereal and raw. Thank you so much for the recommendation! I’m planning to read them with my husband on a long train journey this weekend.

  31. Caz says...

    I love The Dogist!
    A few I’d recommend are:
Salty Wings (incredibly beautiful drone photography – mostly of Western Australia’s coastline
Insta-Chaz (funny stuck figure cartoons on post-it notes)
Lucas Levitan (illustrations and photo invasion)
Hot Dudes Reading (does what it says on the tin)

  32. Lauren says...

Interiors + Food! @em_rehabitat has a strong interior design game with homes that feel warm and livable — a perfect mix of modern + vintage. @snackhappy inspires me with her grain/dairy/sugar-free meal options! (If you’re doing Whole30, definitely check her out.)

  33. TifNels says...

I needed a break from the mundane, this was it!

  36. I love The Dogist!

  37. Tiff says...

@AndrewKuttler is my fave… and not just because he is a dear friend. His photos are always bright and optimistic and I always smile when I see them. They are a true reflection of his personality :)

    @90smovieclips

  39. Em says...

The dogist is my forever favorite. I love seeing all the different breeds and the clever names!

  40. Lea says...

Amazing suggestions, I just followed all of them!

Nayyirah Waheed reminds me of Rupi Kaur, who also writes achingly beautiful poetry. https://www.instagram.com/rupikaur_/

  41. Jonesie says...

Brian Andreas is the most whimsical and uplifting artist. I had the pleasure of meeting his wife at a workshop. Their insta account (@brianandreas) is one of my favorites!

  42. How cool are these! I can’t draw so I’m always amazed by what fun illustrations people can make so (seemingly) effortlessly!

I love following your IG, Joanna :) I’m a polyglot (I speak 7 languages fluently) and teach people from all over the world. I’m @speakathometonight and was so excited when you liked one of my photos once! *fangirl moment* Looking forward to following more new friends!
