Here are my Harriets, Red Wing’s take on the Chelsea boot. They are incredibly comfortable, and I love how rugged they feel while still looking sleek. Funnily enough, Alex has worn a pair of Red Wings for more than 20 years, and they look so great and worn-in. We were both psyched to see them launch their Women’s Heritage collection last fall.
Red Wing started in 1905 in Red Wing, Minnesota, and has had a serious cult following ever since. For years, women bought boots from the Red Wing Men’s Heritage collection and sized down to get the right fit. But, last year, Allison Gettings, a fourth-generation owner of the company, decided to go into the company’s archive and revive its women’s collection from the 1920s — and needless to say, fans of the brand were thrilled.
How lovely is the stacked wood heel? Red Wing boots have been made in America for 110 years from the best quality materials, including leather that’s processed in their own tannery. (Check out this photo of C.E. Beckman, the founder of Red Wing, wearing the men’s version of my boots a hundred years ago!)
