Do you have any vacations coming up? Tonight we’re packing for our holiday trip to visit family in Palm Springs and L.A. I’ve been brainstorming which shoes to bring — for playing on the beach, eating tacos and hitting up museums. My pick was this pair of canvas sneakers, which would pair well with jeans and gets hundreds of five-star reviews. Just for fun, here are three more trip/shoe combinations…
Imagine this: You’re heading to Paris for a long weekend. You’re planning to window-shop in the Marais, stroll around the Rodin Museum and sip cocktails at a speakeasy. These fashion-forward blushy pumps, with their low heel height, would keep your feet happy on cobblestone streets yet look lovely with a dress. They’re pretty, neutral and won’t make you look like a tourist. (Two more Paris-friendly shoes: oxfords and flats.)
Or, wait, is this is your hammock? If you’re going to a breezy beach, like this one in Puerto Rico, you’ll want a sandal you can kick off in the sand every afternoon, but dress up for dinner at cool seafood shacks. These braided leather slides from the cult brand Soludos have the perfect vibe — and make legs look long in shorts. (These sandals are great, too: lizard and pink.)
For adventures in New York, you can’t go wrong with a classic black bootie. You can walk through Washington Square Park, grab lunch at Jack’s Wife Freda and shop around Nolita — without a single blister. They go from day to night, and they won’t get dirty. I love the almond-shaped toe and the low stacked heel. Pair them with jeans or tights, and you’re good to go. (Two more New York options: suede and stone.)
Thoughts? What shoes do you bring on vacations? Any recommendations?
