My heart is broken. I am fearful for our nation and the uneducated people who truly believe in Trumps policy foreign and domestic. Progressives- where do we go from here?

My head and my heart are confused. What does this mean for our nation?

I want to ask the people who voted for Trump – not those who voted against Hillary, but those who wholeheartedly voted for Trump – what they want to change about America. Please articulate. Please tell me also, that you don’t condone the way he speaks to women or minorities. Please tell me it will all be ok.

It seems only appropriate that it was raining this morning. Mother Nature was softly crying.

My heart is broken. I just hope America can survive and recover and learn to choose love not hate. </3

I’m in total disbelief and under a dark cloud of sadness and disappointment. I really don’t know what else to say.

Please please please comment on the election results today. We all need to hear from Clinton supporters on how they are moving forward. I know CoJ tends to stay light on hard days, but I think something needs to be said, since you all endorsed Hillary. (ps. Does anyone else have this tight knot of anxiety in their chest?)

From the UK early in the morning. I am very sorry. We live in difficult times.

We in Europe just woke up to the scary election news. I’m terrified. Brexit, Trump, the rise of nationalism everywhere – these are scary times.

Like many of you, Cup of Jo is a daily read for me. It’s also a voice of US women for me as I live in the UK. I have been up most of the night following your election and I can only imagine that the stomach-turning realisation you are experiencing right now is how I felt about Brexit. Scary not just because of the implications it holds for the country, but because of the division it shows. I know it’s not comparable to brexit in many ways, but in others it is. I think the most unsettling feeling for me was being so far removed from the feelings the majority of my country had. That I was oblivious to so much anger. It’s a strange time we live in, I can only hope these two events have shown us our rock bottoms and that we can bounce back up.

I voted early this morning with my 5 year old son and 6 year old daughter….an amazing day to say the least! I hope they remember years from now when they came with me to vote as it is really such a big deal! Now I nervously await the results….fingers crossed!!!!
I only wish I took off tomorrow from work bc I am going to be exhausted waiting but all night!

Thanks so much for adding some levity on this stressful day! We all need a break from the crazy political cloud hanging over us. Hoping we can all come together again. Share love with all.

Everyone must, must watch the Samantha Bee episode where she dissects Hillary’s emails and what they found. “Scandalous and awful things” like an email from Hillary after finding out about a ten year old Yemeni girl who was getting divorced: “Can we get this girl to the US for education and counseling?” Or how about her response to hurricane victims in Haiti “What are the logistics of getting them food and medical supplies by first light?” Had me in tears. I didn’t just vote against Trump I voted FOR Hillary. She’s a badass who will fight for all women and children! (Not to mention everyone else!

Thanks for sharing ‘Never Happened’, Jo. Such an intriguing film! It raises so many questions, whilst being very unnerving. We think that type of technology is so far into the future, but in reality it can’t be that far into the future either scary!

I’m gutted I can’t vote, the enthusiasm of politics in America makes me want to get involved + I LOVE that computer skin :)

I love that the link for the picture with the rabbit was about the laptop skin, instead of the rabbit, which I was expecting! I mean, a rabbit looking at a laptop! :)

I voted this morning! I have two little girls and 2 teenage stepdaughters and I was so filled with joy and pride as I told them their dad and I were voting today to help elect the first female President of the United States!! What a privilege it is to exercise our right to vote!

I’ve been obsessively refreshing fivethirtyeight.com for the last two hours. For what, I don’t know, since it’s barely 10 after 1 p.m. on the west coast. We have a long way to go. Polls in California, Oregon, and Washington don’t close until 11 p.m. and that’s assuming nobody is still in line.

I voted by absentee ballot, and am eagerly awaiting the results from my home in Germany. I’m trying to decide what time to set my alarm for in the morning, I don’t want to miss anything. When my daughter wakes up to nurse tonight I will be sneaking peaks at the news on my phone. Go Hillary!!

Well, I guess that worked. Now I’m obsessing over the earring at the end of that video instead of the election.

I went voted earlier with my 7 year old daughter in tow. I’m trying to impress upon her the significance of electing our country’s first female president. But in a way it’s great that she takes it for granted. Like, yeah, so? Hopefully we’ll ALL one day take it for granted, it will be so common.

The movie is so unexpected!
