What’s on Your Travel Wishlist?

I would absolutely love to see the sleeping sand dunes. From the picture they look like beaches and the dunes in Cadiz, Spain. Looks absolutely relaxing and peaceful, somewhere I could see myself enjoying.

Dear Joanna, I read this post couple of weeks ago, just when planning my trip to Arizona. I have never heard about the Antilope Canyon before but it looked so great in the photo that I decided to visit it. And it was spectacular! Thank you for this great inspiration. All of these destinations are worth going to! I also would love to visit these great places and I am planning to make a list and start to go to one or two places each summer! Thank you for sharing! :) I wish you to visit all of them as soon as possible!

I grew up in Hudson, NY and its amazing to see the transformation the city has undergone in the last 15 years or so. So many great restaurants and shops (the Bees Knees is a great children’s store). After living in the city and now Westchester, it’s nice having that Brooklyn-y feel when returning home. Be sure to visit Olana just south. It’s a historic home with beautiful grounds and views of the Hudson river. Look for the tea pots on the roof.

I’m eagerly anticipating my first trip to Spain at the end of February! It’s been at the top of my bucket list for years but for some reason I balked at visiting—maybe because, after seeing it, I subconsciously felt there’d be nowhere to go but down, haha. Now, though, I’m looking forward to experiencing it for myself finally (and returning more than once).

I’m also toying with the idea of taking a trip to Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia in October or November. I’d love to see the Okavango Delta (just the name sounds so alluring) and peep over the edge of Victoria Falls from Devil’s Pool!

We will be going to a little cabin in southern Sweden to introduce skiing to our three children for 4 days this february. In september we are planning at trip to southern SPain, Andalusia, or to the spanish Island, Mallorca. But what Im daydreeming about the most is our 4 weeks trip to california next summer, hopefully with a stop over i NYC on our way home to Scandinavia (DK) :-)

I’m about to start a solo smoking trip acros Arizona in a few days! Everyone keeps talking about every Antelope and Grand Canyons, but I am most excited about Sedona.

Also, later this year: Mexico City! I love that the NYT made my top destination theirs too!

All of these stunning photos make me want to pack my bags right now and go. Oh Wanderlust how you get me all the time. ALL. THE. TIME.

My Husband and I went on a road trip up the california coast for our honeymoon and since then we decided that every year on or around our anniversary we want to make a trip to a new state, city, country side. ETC.

I have such a large list but there are a few that always make the top of my wishlist:

1) Wilmington, North Carolina
2) Maine. (just in general)
3) Lexington, Kentucky
4) Salem, Massachusetts

I always have a “to travel” list running, but this year my mom and I are planning an East Coast road trip to visit some of the states we’ve never been to. We’re starting in Vermont, then renting a car and driving to Maine, and ending in Boston. We’ll take day trips to Rhode Island and Connecticut. I’m so excited! I would also love to take my boyfriend to New Orleans to visit my family as well.

We’re planning a trip to the southwest that will include the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon – we’re so excited! If you’re looking for a place outside the country, I can’t recommend Spain highly enough. My husband and I spent two weeks there on our honeymoon last January, and fell in love. Madrid, Granada, and Cordoba were all amazing (and cheap!!), and we talk about going back all the time. The Mezquita in Cordoba is the most amazing building I’ve ever seen!

My husband and I have been invited to visit the Philippines this summer with his parents. He was born there and hasn’t been back since he was 10.

I’m the exact opposite of you. Travel STRESSES ME OUT. I get really really anxious about attempting to plan every detail of the trip to give me some security. I could just puke thinking about the possibility of this trip, even though I know my husband would love it. Ughh, help!

Heading to Bali on Sunday. Living in Perth, Western Australia its pretty accessible for regular holidays but there’s always something new to discover. Further afield I’m dying to see Japan during cherry blossom season – probably will be 2017 though.

I’m planning a trip to Ireland this summer. I’m having the hardest time choosing an itinerary! Deciding what to see and where to stay is difficult. You are right though, planning the trip is part of the fun. My son is doing a tour of national parks right now and he says Arches National Park is his favorite.

After six years in DC, I’m finally moving back to California this spring, so I’m going to do some local tourist-ing- I’m so excited! :)

But I’m also going to New Orleans for my friend’s 30th (never been!) and (fingers crossed) Manchester, England for a conference of the British Stammering Association. I’ve been to England a bundle of times but never Manchester so I’m going to explore that little city and maybe head over to Liverpool to be a Beatles dork.

My dream vacation, though, is to Tahiti. There’s this giant wave that breaks off the coast there and it’s so mesmerizing. I just want to sit and watch it all day long.

I’m trying to finish a PhD by May (these next few months, I don’t even know, it’ll be like that news story about the girl who lifted a pickup truck with her bare hands and saved her family). For motivation I have a list of places I could go this summer as a celebratory treat to myself. I figure I’ll pick one based on travel expense and timeline when the time comes. My list:

– the Canadian maritime provinces (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, PEI, etc)
– Iceland
– Cape Cod
– the White Mountains, New Hampshire
– Glacier National Park
– a TBD section of the Colorado trail

Most of those places have some kind of personal connection for me or are a longtime bucket list item, and I’m especially interested in places where I can do some backpacking or at least day hiking. It almost brings me to tears, the version of myself that will have accomplished this huge thing and then can mark that achievement in a beautiful place.

Glad to see that Charleston made it on the list. I visited it for the first time this past fall, and I wrote my review posts earlier this week (http://www.whitecabana.com/index.php/2016/01/12/travel-charleston-sc-part-2/). We made a stop in at Hominy Grill, too!

I just moved to England with my husband and 4 kids in August. We’ll be here at least 2 years, and our European travel wish list is about a mile long! We’re going to Dublin in February, we’ve got a trip to Italy booked for April, and we’re planning to do Amsterdam in May. In between, we’re exploring as much of the UK as humanly possible. Our next big trip (after Italy) will hopefully be the South of France!

i would love to go to the grand canyon, it’s always been one of the places i dreamed about in the united states. my sister and i are planning to give a trip to our mom next year for her 60th birthday, and who knows? maybe we could finally go there :) it has to be in another continent, because our mom has never left europe :)
as for trips this year, i decided to do something i’ve been wanting to do for ages, which is volunteering abroad. so i’m going to honduras for a month and a few days in the summer to help a community (especially children), and i’m completely overexcited! just bought my trip a few days ago :)
and hey, if you’re looking for holiday destinations, you should come to portugal! it’s a wonderful and beautiful country, full of history and beautiful sceneries, including amazing beaches all around. and if you should drop by lisbon, the capital city (and, to me, one of the most beautiful cities in the world – can you tell i’m from lisbon? :) be sure to ask for advice on where to go and what to do :)

This year we want to finally visit Iceland!!! Maybe in June? We are checking dates already! Australia is on our wish list too but, let’s be honest, it’s quite the journey to plan! So it’s not looking good. And, fo course, we need some time on the beach. For that, any Mediterranean island will do! But I have my eyes on Sardinia!

I’m planning a trip to Singapore and Malaysia for late March, and I want to go to Ladakh and the Valley of Flowers in northern India in August. And once I return to the States I want to visit a new place within the US. it’s so much fun to plan trips! xx

Well, I don’t live in the USA, I live in Greece, Europe and in my mind lately there is a lot of Safari going! I’d love to stay in one of those absurdly pricey safari reatreas in Central or South Afrika

Too many to list! Portland, OR is top of the U.S. list, Chicago next (museum nerd here), then some of the national parks. New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Spain, Costa Rica, etc.

What a good list. My family took a road trip from Michigan to Montana when I was younger and I’ve been itching to go back ever since. This is not in the U.S., but I also really want to visit Scotland with my mom. We’ve been talking and planning but nothing is set yet. If only money we’re an issue right? Glad to see Sleeping Bear Dunes on the list. I live so close to the park, sometimes I forget what a treat it is.

The Grand Canyon is absolutely beautiful but its not a great place to take little kids. The rim has a very low wall–like maybe 1 1/2 feet and that is all that protects you from careening down miles below. We took our kids (an early walker and a 4 year old) and spent the entire time watching the kids extremely closely. The hiking is gorgeous but not for little kids; it is exposed, steep, and rugged. Other than that there is not much to do (we did see the mules at the mule stable and drink hot chocolate at the beautiful but terrible and terribly overpriced El Tovar hotel). My husband and I are avid hikers and hiked the canyon in college and we are looking forward to coming back with the kids when they are older and can appreciate the beauty and hike safely.

We are in the depths of planning our 10 year anniversary trip (a week w no kids!) and so have been discussing this a ton lately. We decided on Carmel/ big sur, but the others on the top of my list are: key west, Montreal, Puerto Rico, charleston, fly fishing in Montana, and Costa Rica. I agree that reading about the places is almost as fun as going…
