Summer Cold

How are you feeling today? I’m actually typing this with my eyes closed because I have a terrible migraine. I rarely get bad headaches, but this one is throwing me for a loop. (Of course, Anton woke up this morning at 5am and was like this.) Anyway, sending you a big kiss and will try to do another post today but may not make it! xoxo

  1. I like to use peppermint essential oil when I get headaches, specifically from doTERRA :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

  2. I feel ya. It’s good to hear aspirin did the trick. For me, it was cutting back on caffeine overall and spreading out one cup of tea throughout the day, instead of drinking a few in the morning and none in the late afternoon. I had come to accept that everyone lived with headaches. Thank goodness it was an easy fix for me, too.

  3. hang in there!!! Sick mama’s have it the hardest. XO

  4. Ugh. No fun. Hope today’s treating you a little better!

  5. Feel better. I love reading your blog. It’s my relief after a hectic day of work and caring for my 6 month old boy. I especially look forward to your Friday posts. Some of your links just crack me up. Feel better soon =)

  6. I feel ya!! My head has been killing me all week and I just got over a funtastic cold. Hope you’re feeling better. Time to put ” the magic bear ” in the microwave. :).

  7. Hope you feel better soon! We’re dealing with strep throat in our house. About to go out and pick up a third antibiotic for one of the kids. Zithromax did not work, clindamycin is working for two of us, but seemed to cause an allergic reaction to one of the twins. Going to get the next one to try for him.

  8. Well wishes you feel better soon

No kidding, I woke with an awful headache this morning, sinus face hurts headache. Maybe the change in temperature dust in the air. Its so weird to have a pain headache, I got up early to putter it away.

  9. Sending YOU a big kiss, Jo!

  10. Those pictures perfectly describe how it feels to be sick during the summer. Feel better!

  11. I’ve been sick all week! I hope you don’t feel as miserable as I do… *sniffle*

  12. get better soon. I also have very bad headaches and I never use to, but now is like I need to lie down or directly go to bed, but with kids that is totally impossible. I think we should check with a doctor…
By the way didn’t hire an assistent?

  13. Hi Joanna! I hope you feel better soon. I used to get terrible migraines with nausea. I find that an ice pack on my head helps a bit. I also tried taking magnesium (powder that you mix with water)as soon as I feel a migraine coming on and I kid you not, I feel better in 15 minutes! It’s the only thing I’ve tried that works.

    Rest up!

  14. In sorry that you’re feeling ill, but I love those flower pictures! They have such an interesting perspective.
    Feel better soon, Joanna!

  15. Blah. I have a wicked cough; a few weeks after a cold. Back to school germs from the kindergardener, the preschooler and the professor husband. Also–why do pregnant women ever get colds? Shouldn’t we be immune from everything since we’ve already got a ton to deal with? Can you hear my whining? Whining and empathizing! hope you’re on the way to recovery!

  16. I have chronic headaches and take a daily medication but find an apple helps when I feel pain coming. I try and eat one just before I take advil. The old saying is true! I hope you feel better!

  17. Hope you are feeling better!

  18. My mother likes to tell this story about my brother when he was about 2.5 years old. Once he was sick and felt nauseous and said, “Mummy, funny juice is coming into my mouth,” to describe the weird icky saliva taste he was experiencing. A few days later, my mother had a headache and wanted to lie down in peace, but my brother, being small and oblivious, kept bothering her. So my mother murmured, “Geoff, funny juice is coming into my mouth,” and apparently my brother turned around and left her alone without another word! Anton is a little too young to relate, I know!

  19. Feel Better my dear!! Sending hugs your way as well

    <3 xoxo

  20. Don’t you dare do another post, lady! Get your butt back to bed and rest.
I woke up with a cold too, but so far the migraine has eluded me (luckily, I know how nasty they are).
This time of year when the seasons are changing are rife with colds/bugs. Take care of yourself. X.

  21. Don’t worry about another post, just rest and relax! Feel better!
    xo, Meg

  22. ND says...

Or maybe a short post memorializing 9/11… just a thought?

  23. Use peppermint oil around your hair line. I like to dilute 1 teaspoon of coconut oil with 2-3 drops of peppermint oil. Also, slice and peel an inch of ginger. Boil it for 5 minutes and drink up! It never fails me!

  24. Big hug to you, Joanna! I understand you so well… I feel so tired last time with everything, children, work. We have to admit that it’s hard sometimes to be always what people expect us to be; maybe just let it go sometimes…?

  25. i suffer from migraines too and a couple of months ago i found advice on the internet about dipping ones hands in very warm(one hand) and very cold water(the other hand) at the same time and it has actually helped me many times. in early stages of a migraine it actually went away, or at least relieved it partially. hope you feel better soon!

  26. I JUST got over a bad sinus cold. Miserable!! I hope you feel better soon and hopefully your little guys will take it easy on you. Much love and lots of ‘healthy vibes’ from CA being sent your way…

  27. Essential oils CURED my migraine before the headache even set in. I get aura migraines, with flashing lights, zig zag lines, and blind spots before the headache will come–when I saw this happening a friend of mine put peppermint oil on the back on my neck, frankensence on the roof of my mouth, lavendar and cedarwood on the bottoms of my feet, and clary sage on my stomach. She put me in a dark room and I took a short nap. I woke up CURED. I’m not even kidding. I know this sounds crazy :)

  28. Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well! Maybe Caroline can share something fun with us today?

  29. feel better jo! you are a rockstar. xoxo

  30. I am similarly suffering from a severe migraine (2 days running!). Here’s hoping yours clears up soon!

  31. Hope you feel better! I was sick yesterday and my kids didn’t give a rats ass either :)

  32. My whole family is sick at the moment – with hubby beeing the one who´s most miserable naturally..! :-D I really dislike all the colds that everyone has at the moment (at work and at home) – makes us all sneezy, tired and gloomy.

    Get better!

  33. feel better soon, joanna! x

  34. Joanna, I think your migraine is related to the barometric pressure change happening because it’s about to rain. My head is pounding too! (Also, I was the running mama with the jogging stroller who shouted “love your blog!” last night as I ran past you and your boys outside of shake shack! So nice to see you in DUMBO!)

  35. Oh geez! Don’t post, just rest! Hope you feel better soon. Bad migraines are no joke!

  36. If it’s the same summer cold/raging headache that just left our house, then please please please take care of yourself. It’s brutal (and apparently going around). I never get headaches and it had me floored. I blame my 9 month old…

  37. magnesium pills do wonders for a migraine! feel better!

  38. Take care of yourself mama! Loved the card. Just like the honey badger, baby don’t care! He needs you headache or not. sigh. exhaustion.

  39. As a reader I will be angry if you post again today – don’t you always give us the advice ‘take gentle care of yourself’?! Take it easy and feel better soon!

  40. Girlfriend, Rest!! and feeling better… :)

  41. Feel better soon…

  42. Feel better. Maybe he will nap and you can, too!
