This trick is super awesome! (100 points if you figure out what he’s going to do ahead of time; I had no idea.)

Definitely going to try this! Point taken about the dirty dishes…but why not just eat off them afterwards? ;)
Love the idea
that is genius
Love this! I *just* cut two pints of grape tomatoes up a few days ago for a simple recipe with a lot of kick. This will make it even simpler! :)
This is so simple and effective. What a great idea!
OMG this guy is AMAZING!!!!
visit me at june lorraine xx
OMG I’m loving this!
Yessssss, happy days!!
This is genius!
LOVE.
So simple, but so brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that?
This is amazing!!!
hahahahaha I’ve just remembered myself cutting cherry tomatoes one by one yesterday. Silly head. No more!
This man is a genius.
Also, I LOVE that Alex comments on your posts! So sweet :)

Brilliant!!!
That is so Clever!!! It takes me so long to cut all those tiny tomatoes in half when I’m making a salad!
Ha this is hilarious also his voice is super funny weird robot English. Thanks
So cool!
Jesus!
This is awesome!
I just got sucked into DaveHax Youtube videos for a good half hour. Thanks for that! ;)
mind. blown.
how have I never seen this before? friggin brilliant!
So, this is really funny…last week I’m in the other room and I hear my husband (who is supposed to be throwing together salads for lunch, which includes slicing cherry tomatoes) and I keep hearing all these dishes banging around. I finally asked what he was doing and he said he was trying some trick for cutting cherry tomatoes that he saw on YouTube…now I get it! Didn’t sound like it worked so well for him…
OMG what a time saver!
OMG what a time saver!
haha, amy lauree, i thought the same thing! too funny.
Whatt! That looked so quick and easy.
I am with the serrated knife crowd.
I’m with Meadow, I can’t decide if it’s worth it to dirty two dishes just to cut my tomatoes.
I am at once fascinated by this idea and fairly certain that I would somehow sever a hand in the process.
Okay, I did not see that coming! Genius!
NO. WAY. The time I have been wasting!
Awesome! I bet I would press the plate down too hard and squish them! I also love how people noticed your husband’s comment and how it seems like he is a regular poster… Too cute!
I’ve watched the Rachel Ray show just once so far, and this tip was on that one episode, haha.
I’ve seen this before, but with halves of those old plastic bulk CD cases. And I was always like, who even has those anymore? But this makes so much sense!
Ha! I thought he was going to just say to use a serrated knife. Much easier….
Totally do this with plastic lids already. Great tip!
Woohoo! 100 points for me! I just saw this on Mels Kitchen Cafe blog a couple weeks ago.
I’ve seen this before and 1) it’s not worth it to me to dirty 2 plates, and 2) it doesn’t work as well if your knife isn’t sharp and, 3) you basically squish the little ‘maters to death in the process. Cool idea though!
I’ve seen this before. I spend too much time on Pinterest ^^
Genius!
I had seen that before and still forget to do it that way! Duh!
What! Did not see that coming. Great idea.
p.s. I love that your husband commented and sounds like an ordinary commenter, so nonchalant about it. funny.
great tip ! BUT when he says sharp knife, he means SHARP KNIFE.
This is really neat!
Genius!!!!
Haha! I was skeptical that this was going to be interesting but I am now in awe.
Genius! I hope I remember to do this next time…
Brilliant!
I have a feeling if I try this, I’m going to end up with a broken plate on the floor, lol. Also, since when did Alex start commenting! How sweet!
Amazing! I love it!!! Totally wish I could claim the 100 points but alas, had never thought of that! Brilliant!! xx
Haha that’s weird!
Well, that was awesome! I think I’ll need to sharpen my knives before trying it for it to go smoothly.
laura, yes! it’s here: http://www.thenovicechefblog.com/2012/11/garlic-roasted-cherry-tomatoes/
Ha! Now THAT was amazing!
Super! But now I want to know what the recipe is for that amazingly yummy looking roasted cherry tomatoes you have pictured above.. *drool*
I saw Rachael Ray do this with plastic lids!(from coffee cans or sour cream tubs
Ha that’s kinda neat. I wouldn’t want to dirty up 2 more plates, though. My trick is simply to use a very sharp knife… then it’s easy and takes no time at all.
uh, this is AMAZING.
!!
My issue with grape and cherry tomatoes is that they’re so dang slippery and my knife never seems sharp enough to slice them quickly. I use a little serrated paring knife and it goes SUPER quick now.
What?!!! Ha, ha! That is so great!
I like this. I spend half my cooking time on prep work, so I’m always looking to save time.
Mind blown!!!
