Since we’ll be spending the next few weeks doting on the new baby, I’ve scheduled daily regular posts and guest posts, which I hope you enjoy. Of course, I’d love to pop in now and again to share family photos and our birth story, as well!
First up: Do you ever make flavored water? It’s easy and refreshing, and it’s beautiful to serve when entertaining friends (or just reading a book outside). Plus, regular water gets boring! Below are three great variations we tried out…
Blackberry Sage. This was the crowd favorite. Tip: Massage or crush the herbs before putting them in the water to help release the full flavor.
Mixed Citrus. We used oranges, lemons and grapefruit; and blood orange would be beautiful, too. Tip: We actually added sparkling water to this one, which was delicious.
Ginger Mint. This had a great kick. Tip: The longer the ingredients steep, the stronger the flavor will be, so consider mixing this up a few hours ahead of time, depending on how strong you’d like the flavors to be.
Thoughts? Any other flavors you’d recommend?
P.S. How to make the perfect cheese plate.

Great idea, but I think I’m gonna try it with sparkling water – must be more refreshing! :)
These look lovely! I made a lemon cucumber water last week that was delicious. Such an easy thing that makes you feel so fancy..:)
I absolutely LOVE watermelon water. I tried it while waiting in line at a Vegas hotel and was overwhelmed with love of it! I really love chopping it up and making ice cubes out of some of it. Then mixing the fresh and the frozen makes it DELICIOUS and stays cold!
these look amazing. i definitely want to try the blackberry sage!
Delicious!
We ate recently at a restaurant in Santa Fe that offers rosemary. Not a fan of the herb, I’m astonished by how refreshing and tasty it is!
yammie. looks great. i want to have a drink right now. in germany we have the first time this year something like summer feeling. these drinks are perfect for this time ;)

I read this post this afternoon and then this evening, just before friends arrived for dinner, I threw some sage leaves and blackberries into a carafe of water. Perfection. Thanks for the tip.
Watermelon Mint is my personal favourite :)
I need to start doing this more often. Lemon and mint is another yummy combo – and fantastic for your digestion and for combating bloating.
Fantastic idea! I forwarded this post to my mom who isn’t a big eater but has a gorgeous herb garden and she’s always looking for creative ways to use them. She’ll love this.
YUM! Totally trying this this weekend.
Congrats on the babe!

I always drink water with juice of 1 lime, some frozen raspberries, and some fresh mint. So delicious! Never thought to add ginger though, must try it out!

Blueberry rose. With fresh rose petals from the garden. I always add a touch of rosewater to my blueberry smoothies so I’m sure this would taste (and look) divine.

They all look so delicious and refreshing! I would love to try the blackberry/sage and citrus with sparkling water. One of my new favorites is watermelon (the water turns pink!).

I’ve never tried flavoured water, but this seems like such a great idea! It seems like healthy alternative to juice, too.

YUM! Love these combos!
I LOVE flavored water. I usually get the powdered kind from the store (Propel’s strawberry kiwi is my favorite right now), but I know that it’s not as healthy as fresh fruits, which I’ve been wanting to try. So I’m glad you wrote this post! I shall pin it. :)

Love the photography. I’ve made with citrus before, but if you leave the rind on, it will get bitter by day 2, FYI!

Mmm looks beautiful and refreshing!
Love infused waters! What a great twist for a summer party.

I don’t make a lot of flavored waters, but I do love fresh lemonade in the summer. The other day I had cucumber-mint lemonade, and really want to try making that at home!
yum!! also surprisingly amazing is cucumber in water and/or fennel in water!!

I’m not much for flavored water. It doesnt taste much like the thing you put in it, it’s like watered down juice, blagh, and plain water suits me just fine. I know, I’m a cranky granny.
I love that you organised Anton to arrive in time for your Motherhood Mondays blog, and you had this one ready to go for Tuesday!
Definitely going to try the blackberry one. Sounds so refreshing!

We did flavored water in large glass drink dispensers for a friends baby shower and they were so yummy! Strawberry basil is good too! I’ve been making mini ones in large mason jars ever since and it’s been a good way to stay hydrated since I had my #2 little boy. Congratulations! Secretly, I was hoping you’d have a boy b/c I love your blog and reading about your life with Toby (who’s about the same age as my first son), and thought it would be fun to follow your adventures with brothers. Being the mom of boys is this greatest gift I never realized I wanted until I got it! Enjoy getting to know your new little guy and watching Toby grow into his role as big brother.
Great suggestions! I feel like the humidity gets me a little sick, so ginger water is the perfect remedy. Must try soon.
I also like water with cucumber slices. It’s not an intense flavor, but adds another refreshing note.
My mom loooove lime water. Every afternoon in the summer, she’ll squirt a bit of lime juice into her ice water. I’d love to try the mixed citrus!
Félicitations pour ce nouveau bébé, il est vraiment mignon!
take care!!!

I love flavored water, cucumber, mint and strawberry being a particular favorite. I have found that citrus water can get very sour after a while, particularly if it’s heavy on the lemon or lime.
Yummmm Grapefruit and Lemon sounds good.

I love making Strawberry, Lime, and Mint, yum yum! The blackberry sage sounds delish, will definitely try that soon!
Ginger mint sounds great for the summer!
I like lime A LOT!
lime and mint is a 2013 summer special over here (without leaving the lime in…it gets too bitter). cucumber is also a good standby! love these suggestions.
xo
I’ve had the citrus water and cucumber. I always put lemon in my water… always.
These look so beautiful just to have on the table, never mind how they taste!
These look great, but I hope you get your glass of white wine! :)
Ginger mint looks great, I’m going to try it later today. I love lemon water. And I always thought cucumber water was an odd idea, but it’s actually super refreshing on a hot day!

Plain cucumber or mint is my favorite. I like the lemon slices too but I find they rind starts to make the water taste bitter after about 24 hours. http://lettuceandlibraries.weebly.com/
Oh what lovely combinations. I have just grown some sage in my garden so I’ll be sure to try that one. Wonderful little post. PS. Many congratulations on Anton!! xx
Yum!
My favorite one to make (which I’m currently drinking now) is Apple Cinnamon. Just cube up one full Fugi apple and toss in one cinnamon stick. So delicious and really helps boost metabolism :)
