Speaking of offbeat weddings, this Australian couple served a cheese wedding cake. Be still my heart.
What kind of dessert will (or did) you serve at your wedding? We went with chocolate-chip cookies.
P.S. More on cheese:)

What’s with this post? I see none of the article.
no cake just cookies..
Affordable wedding invitations
I love the wedding venue, the cake too. Such an inspiring wedding it is, thanks for sharing this to us. Congratulations !
nice post… we are best catering services in chennai , caterers in chennai and marriage wedding caterers services in chennai .
Cheese wedding cakes are getting more popular by the day. Such a striking alternative to traditional ones!
We did three cakes from Momofuku Milk Bar in Brooklyn. They aren’t “traditional” wedding cakes but cakes nonetheless and they were AMAZING and a huge hit with our guests.
good and kindly post, welcome to out good quality but cheap price Coach Factory Outlet website.
I’ve always dreamed of having a Croquembouche (a giant tower of cream puffs), but this cheese cake looks delicious!
We had a Croquembouche from here – http://www.zuccheropatisserie.co.uk/croquembouche – a 4ft tower of profiteroles drizzled with spun sugar….insanely delicious!
We had a cheesecake too – 4 big old wheels of it.. Amazing! (& for weeks after we had endless cheese feasts too) The only strange thing was cutting the cake… When my husband cut a slice & passed it my way I had to take big bite of blue!!! Whoa!!! Great tho – highly recommend.
He hee it must be an Australian thing… we got married on the 19th of May (newlyweds!) and had a cake of cheese rounds. I’ll be posting about it in a few weeks time (will be sharing little bits and bobs from the big day as the weeks roll on) on my blog… will keep you posted for when the cheese one goes up!!
I’m not a cake lover, so we had mostly fruit, cheese, and bread. I made little felt bags from squares I bought at a craft store and tied them with a simple ribbon and a round tag that I stamped with our last name initial. I put a cellophane bag inside each filled with chocolate truffles. I loved it but everyone kept asking why there was no cake! I would have loved a cheese “cake”!
Custard tarts.

My friends had a cheese wedding cake too. They wanted to ‘cut the cheese’. Tee hee!
What a fun idea. We did a traditional cake for us and a fun cake for the groom. I sort of wished we had done cupcakes. I know they area bit trendy but everyone loves cupcakes. That being said when discussing choices my father told me to “not be too trendy” ;) words of wisdom I guess.
I served apple pie a la mode. The apple pies were from local orchard/bakery and the vanille ice cream from local dairy farm, both from near our hometown. It was a huge hit for a September wedding!
Lots of pictures and ideas on cheese wedding cakes here. Including how to size the amount of cheese, likely costs, etc.
i didn’t know it at the time but my husband would have swooned for a cheese wedding cake!
I LOVE this idea and I wish I had thought of it for my wedding.
I would totally do it for my wedding! It remembers me of your once birthday cake too.
xx
P.S. Love your blog. Never commented before, always in a hurry, but today just thought you deserved so much to hear how nice is to read it, since I’ve been reading everyday since from a long time. Thanks for such lovely posts, pictures, things to see, to buy, to laught.
I love that your blog opens me up to so many new ideas when it comes to weddings, first the polka dot wedding dress caught my eye, now cheesecake! I’d go with vanilla cheesecake and banofee pie – guests can decide which to go for
Also, cookies? Awesome x
We had a dessert buffet with mini crema catalanas, chocolate mousses, millefeuilles, plum compote… My husband and I both prefer classic desserts to elaborate and special dishes and we especially share a dislike for the standard wedding cake. The caterer got it exactly right, it was perfect.
Such a cute idea. I want to have a dessert table for my wedding. Especially actual cheesecake. Probably not like their cheese cake because I’m allergic to some types of cheese but it’s still a nice idea.
This sounds just delectable. I am one of the world’s biggest cheese fans. (Perhaps because I’m from Wisconsin.) I love the idea of cookies for a wedding dessert. I sometimes think I would like to serve donuts (I know, not the most romantic) or cupcakes!
What a great idea…cheese-cake! We had more of a dessert table with homemade apple pie, strawberry pie, chocolate mouse cake, cheesecake (so close), and the traditional 2 tiered white cake to cut into! ooh, now I’m hungry ;)
Hey! I live in Australia and loved this wedding which has lots of great ideas…no cheese cake but lots of lovely Etsy product. Enjoy! x

oooh … cheesecake would’ve been nice! we had a bunch of family & friends make us a whack-load of homemade cakes that my sister-in-law iced, then we placed them on wood logs. so delish!!

We’re planning to have peach cobbler and pecan pie at our Georgia wedding, but a cheese cake (or cheesecake!) sounds really delicious too!
That cheese cake looks tempting! We had five apple pies and three smaller cakes… lemon poppyseed, chocolate raspberry and coconut. Yum!
We ate carrot-and-cream-cheese-frosting cupcakes off the hood of a vintage Porsche. :)
Whoops! Just posted on the wrong comment thread. But since I’m on this one now, I would probably serve carrot cake. :)
If we are just talking color, I would probably go with light blue. BUT, if that first emerald green dress or the Jenny Packham dress were options, I would definitely go with one of those!! SUCH gorgeous dresses.
Yes to the cheese! That’s my plan whenever I get married. I like sweets well enough, but cheese? Oh my.
Cheesewheel cake and dessert wine, for a kick of sugar!
Gotta have cake! I think my family would disown me…with the exception of my brother who always requests a Birthday Pie or Cheesecake.
I love this idea! we had red velvet…very classic.
Cheese wedding cake! How come people haven’t been doing this all along!?!
We had a “traditional” cake that was made by one of my best friends who also officiated our ceremony (busy girl!). It was white with brown polka dots and covered in paper flowers and had one lemon layer, one amaretto, and one chocolate-peanut butter. It was the most delicious cake I’d ever tasted! I love the cheese cake idea!
Cheese cakes are lovely (and very popular in the uk these days)!
We had 5 different flavoured cakes – 4 made by dear friends and family and one red velvet layer cake as a nod to our time living in NYC. All served on vintage cake stands frlm my mother in laws collection. Wouldnt change a thing! :-)
I had chocolate cake at my wedding with chocolate buttercream frosting. Classic.
I just hosted a fun cheese workshop at my farm that focused on cheese as dessert. You can check it out here, if you like (I’ve only got the first two courses up… four more to go!).
My husband really wanted to have pies, so we had those, plus a wedding cake that my mother-in-law made and some beautiful cupcakes! We couldn’t choose just one! We also gave homemade chocolate chip cookies to everyone upon their arrival at the hotel.
we’re serving berry fool. i like the idea mostly because of the name. two fools in love and all that jazz;)
Along with cupcakes we had a kransekake to honor my Norwegian heritage. It is an almond ring cake filled with marzipan. Amazing!
that’s my kind of wedding! love.
we had yellow cake with chocolate icing (and our caterer WAS.NOT.PLEASED).
In the minority here, it seems, but we had a traditional tiered wedding cake. Each layer was a different flavor. It was beautiful and yummy. At our rehearsal dinner, we had a cheesecake (the dessert kind, not the savory kind) bar and that was a big hit with our guests! :)
This cheese cake in your post looks awesome though! I would love to serve one at a special party sometime.
PS Loved reading about all the other creative wedding desserts in the comments! Such a creative bunch!
i think a “cake” made out of sweet cheeses would be kind of fun… more white stilton cheeses have fun fruits in them (lemon, mango, blueberry, and raspberry are some that i’ve seen and tried… SO good!)
i also just bought some cheddar cheese that had cinnamon and cranberries in it!! it has just a HINT of sweetness, so it’s good for everyone!
see it here:

cheers.
We had Whoopie Pies at our wedding :) They were super yummy – made locally at a place right down the street- and a really great conversation piece. We still have friends and family that tell us how much they loved how different (and delicious!) they were. My photographer took a nice photo of them as well, if you want to see.

Amazing! I wish I had thought of that. We did cupcakes. :)
Those photos are gorgeous! I’ve already picked out my cake… haha. But its simple something I would even be able to make myself (Should I ever be able to make a cake that isn’t the texture of a rock)
Oh my gosh… I love cheese. Especially with champagne. On a Sunday. I could eat an entire block by myself.
I don’t know, however, that I would have a cheese wedding cake, although I love it enough to have it satisfy a dessert craving.
I, myself, desperately wanted a giant, tiered Mastro’s Butter Cake for my wedding day. I was even talking to the pastry baker for the restaurant that created the recipe about the possibility of having one. My mom said it would be an ugly cake, though, and not enough people would appreciate the beauty that I saw in it. It truly is the best dessert ever. You must try it.
We went with cupcakes! Hundreds of different flavored cupcakes. They were from the Sweet Peace Bakery in Lynbrook, NY, and they were amazing!
a cheese cake is brilliant. simply brilliant. keeping this in mind for future parties!
We are serving a variety of 3″ mini pies! At a wedding a couple of years ago, my Dad said that he hates wedding cake and that “if they served wedding pie I’d eat it”. That stuck with me and since then have discovered that a lot of people don’t like cake. So, we went with pies and I couldn’t be more excited!
i think a cheese table is mandatory at my wedding, for desserts i want a variety from hand pies to brownies.
I’m with Allie. We had an ice cream sundae bar and since we got married in Hawaii they were served in a fresh coconut bowls. Huge hit!
I love all these ideas. Such a creative group and I think cookies would have been my second choice after the ice cream. Yum!
I love the idea of just serving cookies, Jo! Not so mad on a ‘cheese’ wedding cake though. For starters, I hate cheese! x

no cake? just cookies? I’ve never heard of that but I like it. :)
My husband proposed at an ice cream shop (we love ice cream) and so we did a sundae bar with flavors from my all-time-favorite ice cream place near my home. I have yet to eat a good wedding cake (though I believe they exist!) so we wanted to skip it and do something more “us” — I think it was a hit.
I am absolutely doing this for my wedding in September! It was a done deal and seeing these lovely creations http://thefromagette.com/blog/2011/11/17/cypress-grove-chevre-tablescapes/
we had cupcakes! we had a small cake for us to cut into, but the cupcakes were a huge hit!
we had a big layered and tiered homemade funfetti cake (yep, the good ol’ betty crocker box mix). It was a hit. We also had pies from a bakery in our neighborhood. we were married in our home, so having local and homemade goodies felt appropriate.
@Tragic Sandwich: Tres Leches is my all-time favorite cake! That sounds amazing.
My hubby dislikes cake (not me – it’s one of the main reasons I attend weddings!), so we did rice krispy treats, all different flavors. People still mention how fun and tasty they were.
We did go with cake..and pies. We did without the fancy tiered cake and instead got 6 cakes and I think 3 pies of various flavors. We only had 150 people at our wedding and expected a lot of cake to be left for us. Nope – with the selection, people took a couple of pieces each. The only cake left over was my husband’s groom cake in the shape of a beer mug with his fraternity colors on it. People liked it to much to dismantle it. Luckily, we purposely made this our favorite cake flavor and enjoyed it throughout our first week of wedding bliss!
This is marvelous. I want this so badly. One big layer of Chaumes on the bottom, a middle tier of Roquefort, and some gooey Triple Creme on top with nuts and berries all over. I’m totally running this past Andrew.
we went with no cake. small desserts and a lovely cheese plate. we don’t have a huge sweet tooth, but we wanted to have something for those that did. The presentation was lovely! And I think we ate the leftover cheese throughout our low-key, local honeymoon. Bonus.
