Oooh, I love wallpaper. It can make such a huge statement, don’t you think? When we move into a real place (not a rental), I am going to plaster the walls.

Love that colors of that wallpaper too. I think it is fit for my new condo.
WOW! You really have a beautiful wallpaper. So nice in the eyes. I think I’m gonna use this wallpaper too on my new condo. Thanks.

Your post about wall paper confirms my latest pending thoughts…it is officially growing with popularity and I am now going to go for it! I am going to splash my walls with ornate flowering french inspired wall-paper!
ahhh i LOVE the wallpaper! i’m also going to go nuts with it when i get my own place! i love your blog- its super fun!
xox
I love it!!
YEAH, We love wallpaper too!!!
I didn’t care for these. They looked dated like they should have been in a “Before” shot.
love this wallpaper! i’ve been on the hunt for some good ones for the shop i’ve been working on – new space = new wallpaper!! love it!
oh how i love the florals and the furnitures! inspiring, maybe its time for a room make over
I too like the idea of wallpaper, but I feel like walls are something you want to change relatively frequently and wallpaper is a bloody nightmare to get off. Eventually any wallpaper you put up will start to look dated and/or tired, and then there’s this hassle of changing it. But now I sound like a downer- if you love wallpaper, you should totally go for it. I might even go for it in my “real place” some day, albeit in small doses so I can change if I want to :-P I’ve been seeing framed wallpaper in some places recently, which I think is a pretty cool idea.
my chest of vintage & modern quirky wallpaper & textile swatches is on the verge of spilling over. :)
one of my favorites is the soho grand bathroom wallpaper – the quirky illustrations that always make me smile!
happy friday, jo!

ive been thinking about ways to incorporate wallpaper into my decor without it looking too old-school. these are great examples. thanks for your daily inspiration!

lately I have been loving wallpaper! Love the first one!
I am always thinking of what I would do when I own a place of my own. Good post!
Cranky Susan here.
From my “non-real” place of 20 years (not the plan, but life works out very differently than we plan, sometimes), I can’t help but wonder if we all shouldn’t listen to ourselves more carefully about houses, apartments, real, temporary. I made “homes” of my hotel rooms when I was abroad. I took photos of them & wish I had them in one pile.
In the past week, no less than 7 people have referred to my beloved apartment as “that place.” As in not really my “home.” Yes, they air-quoted (that’s another discussion).
The reason it came up: 1) the state of the world economy & specifically the overheated, sure-to-fall housing market (my very real concern pooh-poohed by friends as “negative” over the last 10 years. I assure everyone I wish I had been wrong about those mortgages & humongous houses); 2) my real fear of the largest allowable hike in my rent–about which I’ll learn next month. As in soon. I’m really worried.
(OK, crankiness over, I know you didn’t mean it to be hurtful, Jo, but man…)
I am right now looking at a grouping of large & small framed pieces of wallpaper that I’ve found over the years…the frames are from my mother’s collection. And it looks less weird than it sounds. If I had a working camera….
But, I too, dream that someday I can put up some paper without repercussion. I’d do it like my mother though. On some walls, paint to complement.
Meanwhile, I can change the paper in the collection of frames any time I want sans nightmarish removal–no matter how the removal has “improved”. This I know about because my parents bought old houses (good) & then had the four of us scraping (bad) wallpaper, seemingly endlessly. It was Dickensian, I tell you! My father claims I exaggerate. Maybe.
For this wallpaper-fantasy-turned-real-life, I shall be well-off enough (somehow parlaying old lady crankiness into book that Oprah likes–the economy having improved, please God) to have a real artisan hang it. I was able to hire an artiste (with stereotypical temper to match), to hang gorgeous paper many years ago in bedroom. It was heavenly. It had stripes; it was beyond belief “matched.” I didn’t have to do a thing but track down the paper. I wish everyone the same experience.
Ciao, good weekend to all. Don’t yell at me! I adore Joanna. I’m afraid to subscribe to the comments.
xoxo, Susan
I love the first room. The wallpaper paired with the wood floors reminds me of a cabin getaway.
there’s some wallpaper from home depot (I know, so classy) that’s really nice. I was going to wallpaper an accent wall in my room, but I’ve been informed “absoloutely not.”
when i was little i picked out pink and white striped wallpaper so that my room could look like anne of green gable’s room. watch out for pink and white stripes, sometimes they made me dizzy. otherwise, wallpaper can be lovely.
I love the floral.
I especially love the first photo. How romantic!
I’m sorry but wallpaper, and especially those ones you’ve got posted, is in my opinion very ugly. It’s also a nightmare to remove it. Painted walls is where it’s at.
I am not a big wallpaper girl, but I do love the one in the first photo. So pretty and it goes great with the wood floors and ceiling!
I love the effect of wall paper, but not the difficulty of changing it. I prefer painting patterns directly on the wall. But these are lovely!
LOVE the poppies!! So is wallpaper making a comeback, then?
I really like the first one a lot! I love collecting wallpaper sample books that are completely outdated.
i love wallpaper.
once i bought contact paper (for your drawers) from an old hardware store in wisconsin that was going out of business – it’s so cute and retro looking – i can’t wait to use it :-)
I know, I love this. I am obsessed with covering one of my walls in a giant floral print and then accenting it with modern pieces.
oooooh, I love that wallpaper!
I just finished wallpapering my office space and got tons of ideas from Cottage Living…actually a nice little resource that I have used often in home updates of late :) and with excellent turnout! I concur, wallpaper is an excellent accent to a room when applied, and done, correctly…all in moderation is my personal wallpapering mantra! Bless, M
great idea!
hope you get your dream home sooner than later.
Wallpaper adds an insular, cozy feeling that can really make a house a home. Plus, it can be totally romantic.
i adore these rooms and i’m all about creating a fabulous bathroom with wallpaper in my next place.
Me too! I have a kabillion samples and am saving up ideas for if / when I buy.
Though, have you seen Jordan’s wallpaper job on her entryway? Proof that you can do it in a rental too!
I love those! Especially the first one.
Do you have 10 minutes and a can of beans?
