How good do these five-ingredient peanut butter cookies look? The Wednesday Chef — who added chocolate chips — says, “they’re whipped up in minutes, bake up in no time and manage to scratch that very particular itch for something chewy, sweet-salty and delicious.” — Joanna
Have you seen the new movie My Salinger Year? The film is based on Joanna Rakoff’s beautiful memoir about her time working as the assistant to J.D. Salinger’s literary agent, while harboring a dream to become a writer herself. Though I cried with recognition at her memories of working in publishing (I had this same job for a handful of years), the story would appeal to any book lover. With its coming-of-age spin and lively office scenes, it begs comparisons to a more literary, feel-good Devil Wears Prada or Working Girl. Plus, since it’s set in the ’90s, it stirred up a touch of nostalgia for that time before social media, when emails were newfangled things no one quite knew what to make of. — Caroline
We have stacks of New Yorker Magazines on our coffee table, and I always want to read the longer articles but somehow never get to them. Well, the Audm app lets you listen to the best long-form journalism that you don’t have time to sit down and read. “They pull articles from great magazines — from Rolling Stone to Vanity Fair,” says Cup of Jo reader Deborah, “It’s wonderful to hear this beautiful writing spoken aloud.” — Joanna
P.S. More fun things.
