Brooklinen’s Big Birthday Sale

For years now, we’ve been fans of Brooklinen, a Brooklyn-based company founded by a husband and wife. Our whole family LOVES their cozy linens (and our overnight guests always ask where they’re from), and now that we’re home 24/7, this has never been more true. They’re currently having a big sale, and everything — bedding, loungewear and bath — is 20% off! Here are some of their lovely pieces, to make days at home a little softer…

BEDDING:

These days, a bed isn’t just a bed. For many of us, it’s also become an office, a hideaway, an entertainment center, the list goes on. So what better time to give it a refresh? We love Brooklinen’s bedding, which is lightweight and soft as can be. Whether you prefer the feel of crisp hotel sheets or lived-in cashmere, they’ve got you covered. (They have adorable kids’ sheets, too.)

LOUNGEWEAR:

It’s safe to say that many of us have a new appreciation for loungewear. If you, like me, have forgotten what jeans are and find yourself wearing sweats around the clock, you’ll love Brooklinen’s comfy pieces. (I practically live in these.) Everything transitions from couch to sleep to running errands, so you’ll get tons of mileage out of them — even when you aren’t leaving home.

BATH:

These days, the bathroom almost feels like a getaway. (Is it just me or does it sometimes seem like a shower is the only personal space?) So, we’ve been trying to make the bathroom feel more like a spa, with fresh towels and relaxing candles. Little things can go a long way — I’ve found just lighting a candle while I shower makes a huge difference.

Brooklinen Bedding

If you’ve been looking to stock up on anything for your home, the birthday sale continues through next Wednesday, May 6th. (I have my eye on this beauty.) How about you? Have you found any ways to make your home more comfortable?

(This post is sponsored by Brooklinen, a brand our family has used and loved for years. Thanks for supporting the brands that help keep Cup of Jo running.)

I bought the linen sheet set after seeing it advertised here a few months ago, and I have to say, they were terrible. They literally disintegrated in the bed! I gave it a few washes, trying to justify the huge price tag by telling myself I needed to “break them in,” but they just kept shedding and shedding (and I got the red ones, which left terrible red fuzz everywhere!) until they were threadbare and I’d had enough of vacuuming the fibers. I returned them and went with Linoto, which is made from heavier threads and from very high quality mills in Europe.

I ordered a bedding set from Brooklinen after reading about them here several times. We were really disappointed in the quality of their products. We got the striped cotton sheets, pillow cases and duvet cover. They are fine, but nothing special imho, and I found the wash instructions to be odd – cold water is recommended. We all have dust mite allergies in my family – hot wash is a must. Sadly, because of that, the sheets faded quickly and have otherwise not held up well (pulling at the seams, holes, etc.). The bigger disappointment was the beautiful stitched quilt and shams we bought (the “lightweight quilt set”). The stitching began pulling and falling apart after a few days. We sent them back and the company replaced it for free. Of course, the second set did the same thing. If the company allowed customers to rate and review its products on the website, I’m sure this quilt set would have been pulled from the product line by now because there is clearly a defect in its manufacture. But sadly the website does not allow for customer reviews and now that I’m familiar with the products, I think I know why – I just don’t think this brand is well made for the price. Every time I see the company advertised on the blog that I love so much, it makes me a little sad – I really feel like it does readers a disservice as there are definitely better quality bedding options on the market.

i’m so sorry to hear that! we have a bunch of their sheets and they’ve held up so well. i’m sorry to hear that wasn’t your experience! xo

  3. Cynthia says...

The Corgi in the sheets is adorable.

  4. Carrie says...

I ordered a percale set a few months back and sadly was so disappointed. They were cheap and scratchy so I tried washing and drying them but it didn’t help at all :( I was also bummed to see they were made in Israel but that one was my fault for mistaking “Brooklyn-based” for “made in America”. On the plus side, the return process was totally painless and I appreciated that.

Can you tell us anything more about the environmental impact of their products? It does not look like they offer organic cotton. Since the majority of the worlds cotton is genetically engineered, I wonder where their cotton is grown and if it is genetically engineered. I would rather not snuggle into that at night.

    • Amy says...

I’m curious what’s wrong with genetically engineered cotton? I know many times genetically-modified plants require less water, are more naturally pest-resistant without sprays, etc. which ends up being better for the environment. I realize some people are hesitant about GMOs because they’d like to see the long-term effects on health before jumping on board (particularly for things that are ingested), but I would think that genetically engineered/modified cotton that potentially requires less sprays/etc might be better for my skin and the planet?

I ordered from Brooklinen and was super disappointed – the sheets smelled very chemical-y and weren’t at all what I expected, so I returned them. Plus, I found out from the tag that they were made in Israel, which is an oppressive state that occupies Palestine, so I especially didn’t want to keep them. Disappointed to see them always promoted on this website I love.

    • Raquel says...

Same here! Very disappointing and they also tear very easily. Not buying from them again.

  7. Michelle says...

    Love their silk pillowcases!!!

  8. Marianne says...

Thanks, just ordered my first set of sateen sheets and can’t wait to try them out! Our urrent sheets are a bit threadbare and I’ve wanted to try these for so long.

  9. Brittany says...

I literally bought their duvet a week ago thanks to your recommendation. Do you think they would refund me the 20% Or should I go through the hassle of returning and re ordering?

    • Joanna Goddard says...

Thanks for your note! Their customer service is wonderful and I’m sure would be happy to help.

  10. Sarah says...

YES! What is going on here. Can’t wrap my mind around it!

  11. Dienesa says...

I just purchased the sage jumpsuit! Ideal outfit to stay at home in. Thanks for the rec, CoJ <3

  12. Sarah says...

I bought some of their comfy clothes a few weeks ago and have been living in them! The shorts that are like sweatpants are a dream and their white tshirt is not see through (always a good find!) and super soft!

  13. Katie says...

ahaha that was my first reaction, too! Why are you on your stomach with a cup of coffee in bed??

  14. jane says...

That last photo! Was my dog in bedding: tangible blissss for him lol
He taught me that dogs were more than merely animals – they deeply enjoy creature comforts as much as we do, 100% including whole food, cozy bedding and general thoughtfulness. Probably all animals do.

Cashmere is my weakness! Did I need to know there is such a thing as cashmere sheets??? HECK yeah!

  15. Audrey says...

I’ve been a big fan of their sheets for a couple of years now thanks to CoJ! I don’t need any linens or towels right now, but I’ve been wanting to try their bleach alternative and candles for a while. thanks!

  16. Christina says...

OK but whose hair is in the first photo!? This is my ideal cut and color!!! :)

  17. Lisa says...

I registered for two sets of sheets and a duvet cover from Brooklinen when we got married, and they are so wonderful. A little more expensive than what you can find elsewhere but they feel amazing!! Like a hotel bed. I also like their modern designs.

  18. Rebecca says...

I splurged last year during their black friday sale and they are a game changer. I adore the feel of them and also adore that they are meant to look a bit wrinkly so I don’t feel guilty when they are :)

  19. Steph says...

I looked at the linen sheets but find it frustrating that you have to buy a set. I have no use for a flat sheet, and would need extra pillow cases. Not being able to customize is the reason why I won’t be a customer.

    • Heather says...

Hi Steph – they actually have a set ( classic starter set) that is only a fitted sheet and two pillow cases. They don’t force you to buy the flat one, actually!

    • Christina says...

Heather, they do force you to buy a flat sheet on the linen sets. There’s no “starter” set for the linen sheets like there are on the classic sheets.

  20. Emily says...

What’s going on in the top image? Is that a child or an adult? Why are they holding a cup of coffee (?) in bed — with WHITE SHEETS, no less?!

  21. Perfect timing on this post as my toddler decided to work on his colouring book in our bed this morning… ! I had been holding off buying new sheets until our littlest wasn’t in and out of our bed all night, but I think the addition of marker pens might be the straw that broke the camel’s back… off to browse! Thanks :)

  22. aimee says...

have any of you tried the linen sheets? are they worth the $$??

    • Kristen says...

I have a set and love them! It was definitely worth the money. They really soften up after a couple of washes, and so far ours have held up really well.

    • Patti says...

I’ve had linen sheets for about 3 years now. Love them! Keep me warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

I didn’t like Brooklinen though. I returned them. I’ve had success with some from Wayfair and also Pottery Barn.

    • Lisa says...

Also curious about these!! I’m interested in investing in a set for summer…this post is perfect timing!

    • patrice says...

They are the most LOVELY sheets ever. Sadly, do not get them if you let any sort of pet onto your bed. My dog jumped up on the bed and immediately tore them with his (trimmed) nails. They are very delicate. I’ve had linen in the past with our dog, but this was the first time I experienced a problem. That said, they are the softest of any linen sheets I have tried and Brooklinen was super cool about our return. We actually switched to Costco after reading a recommendation on here from another reader.

    • Emily says...

I bought some when they were very first featured on CoJ and, honestly, they’re just cotton sheets of middling to average quality. I tossed them after a year because they were never as soft as the price would suggest and they got a hole. It seems like they sell because the company partners with so many influencers and they do a great job of advertising an aspirational color palette/lifestyle?! It always baffles me when people say they love them. If you’re looking for new sheets, the Pima cotton sets from LL Bean are similarly priced, but a much better product. I bought a set of those around the same time (breakups have a funny way of demanding immediate replacement of your essentials) and they feel even better now than when they arrived.

    • Joanna Goddard says...

We have them and I LOVE them. We have been asked by many bedding companies to partner but brooklinen was the absolute #1 in my mind so we went with them. Hope that helps!

    • Nicole says...

So I felt pretty duped when we got them at first- they felt really scratchy. It took about 10 washes, but then they softened up and we loved them! However, they do seem to get holes easily- we are going to have to replace ours soon as they have ripped down the side. But, we have had them probably 3 years, so….not sure what the normal lifespan of a sheet is.

    • Reem says...

I bought after reading about them on here and returned them because they smelled chemical-y, the quality was bad (thin and scratchy), and they were made in Israel. I’ve had organic cotton sheets from West Elm for years and they get softer with every wash.

  23. Katie says...

I LOVE all the cute animals you’ve been posting on the blog!! Really gives me a boost.

    • Anonymom says...

I purchased the duvet cover on Black Friday not realizing it was a closeout color and therefore nonreturnable. My error. I dislike the color as well as the quality. I strongly prefer the lands end and even pottery barn linen sheets. They feel less flimsy. I’m going to try to dye them and sew a sheer summer dress out of them, as soon as I get up the nerve to take on a project of that magnitude.
