Many readers over the years have asked for a Cup of Jo book club, and now seems like the perfect time! Would you like to join? Our first book is…
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb.
In her funny, gripping memoir, Gottlieb reveals what it’s really like to be a therapist. She talks to her patients — including a brash Hollywood producer and a young newlywed with cancer — and shares the fascinating techniques she uses. Meanwhile, out of her office, she’s going through a bad breakup and seeking help from a therapist herself. The book is thought-provoking, hilarious and completely absorbing.
Have you read it? Or would you like to? We’ll chat about it on Cup of Jo on Tuesday, April 14th (four weeks from now). Please comment below if you’re on board! We’d love to have you. xoxo

So funny, I am just seeing this post now and would have been all over this! A COJ book club seems like a dream. And ironically enough I just finished this book a week ago! It had been on my TBR pile for months and I finally got around to it during #Quarantine. Can’t wait!

Yes, I’d love to join! I read this and loved it. So many parts have stuck with me and I thought it was really refreshing to read such a transparent book from a therapist’s perspective.
Just finished the book! Can’t wait for the book club!

Wahoo! In!
I am in! I just ordered the book to be shipped to my house from BookPeople, our local book store here in Austin. I am sure they are hurting with COVID and no shoppers. Support local! Yes it may cost more than amazon, but so worth it.

I’m here for the book club! Lovely idea<3
In! I just picked it up at my local book shop (paid $30 rather than $20 on Amazon but would rather support my local shops) & started last night. Interesting read!

Love this idea. Please feature some YA titles! This category needs some love! Here are a few recent favs that are considered crossover (YA to adult) reads:
MOST LIKELY by Sarah Watson (creator of The Bold Type). It’s about four female friends and one of them becomes President, but you don’t know who ’til the end!
A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER by Holly Jackson. This is a fast-paced mystery remindful of the podcast Serial.
THEY WISH THEY WERE US by Jessica Goodman (out 8/4). A slick thriller best described at Gossip Girl meets The Secret History.
YES!!!
Yayyy! I just so happen to already be halfway through this (and am really enjoying it!) Looking forward to discussing it together, all the way from Sydney, Australia :)
This is on my TBR and I just bumped it up. I’m in!

so excited for this!
me too, our book club, 20 years old, is skipping this month due to covid-19
I am so in! (I saw a comment from a different poster named Carrie that said exactly the same thing, and i had a moment where i stopped and wondered….is that me? Did Drunk Me already sign up for this book club? But then i noticed it was posted at 3:20pm and not late at night, so Drunk Me is off the hook.)
This is the best.

Another Erin from Amsterdam who’d love to join!
YESSSS.
So here for this.
Just ordered this from my local bookstore (officially closed but doing curbside orders). What a lovely pick me up, supporting a small business I love dearly, getting to enjoy a new book, and looking forward to talking about it with the most thoughtful corner of the internet. I’ve loved Cup of Jo for years, but now it feels like an absolute oasis. Thanks for this place.
