Stowaway Giveaway

Are you planning any getaways or work trips this year? Ever since we discovered the travel-sized makeup from Stowaway Cosmetics four years ago, their products have been one of our best packing tips. Here’s why…

A Cup of Jo - Stowaway Giveaway

Stowaway, a women-founded brand based in New York, makes gorgeous lipsticks, mascaras, eyeshadow and more, at half the size of other brands. So, you can pack a full beauty routine for trips, and it won’t weigh you down. Also, since it’s easy to finish Stowaway makeup before the expiration date, the makeup always feels fresh — no more dried, cakey mascara tubes that are still half-full when they expire. (Joanna’s longtime favorite is this lipstick in Raspberry.)

Stowaway Giveaway

All of Stowaway’s products are perfectly sized for airport security (as well as stashing in your purse or pocket for everyday). We love that their long-lasting formulas, which are produced in some of the world’s best cosmetics labs, contain no harmful ingredients. Finally, using Stowaway products helps create less waste. Did you know that 75% of women don’t finish their products before throwing them out? Not only does Stowaway make beauty essentials that are sized to be finished, they also help you recycle your empties.

This week, Stowaway is giving five readers a $100 shopping credit for their beautiful things. To enter, visit Stowaway’s site and then leave a comment telling us which products you’d choose. The winners will be chosen at random this Wednesday evening. Good luck! The winners have been chosen and notified. Thank you for playing!

Bonus for readers: Get 40% off your Stowaway purchase when you use the code JO40 at checkout.

Thank you, Stowaway!

  1. I find rouge lasts longer than powder and I love any product that can do double duty.

  2. Elisabeth H says...

Hey Jo! Love your blog and that you have such awesome giveaways for readers and support women-owned brands. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but this brand is using gun imagery and gun-related language in their ads. I got one recently that said “concealed carry” in regards to their concealer, and another says “Every day is a battle. Arm yourself. It’s your right.” with a copy of the Constitution tucked into a jeans pocket (the original image had a gun, but they Photoshopped it out). I reached out via Twitter, and they told me to contact their CEO… who is an NRA member.

I know from previous posts that this is a topic you care deeply about, so I wanted to make sure you were aware, as I believe this is a company you wouldn’t want to be associated with.

Regardless of the founder’s personal feelings (even if I *strongly* disagree with them), using guns in advertising for a makeup brand is appalling and incredibly tone deaf. Now more than ever.

Thanks for being awesome and for hearing me out, and I hope you’ll reconsider working with Stowaway!

As someone who was originally excited, but now feels conflicted about making a purchase on Stowaway, I was curious to learn if the CEO’s NRA membership was verified. (I did some basic research myself, but can’t find anything conclusive.) Thanks, in advance.

I would love to have the translucent powder in a decent size (who uses RCMA knows how terrible that 2kg packaging is). And the mascara, which has my favorite shape of applicator (like the one I use from maybelline but yes, it gets real cakey over time). Fingers crossed!
