Airplane Survival

Have a Great Weekend.

What are you doing this weekend? This Friday post is a day late because we took a bus to New Jersey yesterday afternoon to visit these guys. We had a rambunctious sleepover, and it was such a treat to hang out in the backyard watching fireflies and toasting s’mores. (Although we forgot Toby’s beloved pillow pet, which was less fun! He was like, No. You. Didn’t.) Now we’re back in bustling Manhattan. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and here are a few great posts from around the web…

Cute idea: Knot your dress.

Twelve cold soups.

A piggy bank for memories.

Princess and the Pea bed.

What a rad carafe!

Heartwarming dad moment.

This new documentary looks fascinating.

Watching the eclipse.

Thank you, Elizabeth Street, for interviewing me about blogging.

Have a great weekend, and find more on Pinterest, if you’d like. xoxo

    mmm… those soups…

  4. Love the hair

  5. hey there! i was wondering what you response was to your uncle’s question “Isn’t it so nice that you can be a stay-at-home mum and have your blog as your labor-of-love?” i had well-meaning comments from relatives when i began teaching (playing with children all day, etc…) and sometimes being polite in my response was difficult.

p.s not that there is anything wrong with being a stay at mum with a blog on the side! =)

  6. i feel like that carafe could go terribly wrong if you’ve had more than one glass of wine!!
and super insightful post from alex, thanks for sharing that! xo.

  7. Hi! I’m late to comment on the weekend post but i just needed to add two cents!

    1) knot your dress – just no! What happened to good old doublesided tape as a hem!! ha

    2) piggy bank memories – divine :)

Hope you had a great weekend.

  8. Ahhh! I love that Princess and the Pea bed! xoxo

  11. Just have to say again, your Friday wrap ups are so great! Interesting tidbits are what I love.

  12. Just spent a blissful hour drinking tea and reading your blog. I have only been reading for a couple months, so every time there is an inset link to another post, I click. I just love all your stories, tips, and NYC finds. You make me look forward to motherhood, marriage, and the constant exploration of this lovely city. Thanks for all you do!

Joanna: I had no idea how much work goes into your blog until I read your interview with Elizabeth Street. I bow down!

  18. Enjoyed reading your interview. Truly a lot of people don’t realize all the effort that goes into blogging.

I would knot my t-shirt from the side or back, but not a dress. Looks kinda awkward to me :-/

The “Memory Bank” is a cool idea. I keep telling my hubby to write about us in a diary so when we grow old and read later we’ll cherish it. Coz neither of us has a great memory anyway. Hehe.

  19. I love knotting my dresses! I am so glad it’s more trendy now, so now I won’t have to feel weird doing it like I use too. Hey I’m a short gal but I love to wear some maxi dresses! And that documentary looks great, I love documentaries

  20. Awww that video of the daddy and baby is just so sweet…!
