Our Seventh Anniversary

Our Seventh Anniversary

Alex and I celebrated our seventh anniversary on Sunday. We took a long bike ride up the Hudson River and then went to Kiki’s for Greek food. Now — after 9 1/2 years together, 7 years of marriage and 2 rowdy children — I figured I’d take a walk down memory lane. Here are a few photos, if you’d like to see…

Alex Williams and Joanna Goddard

On our very first date, we went to see The Lives of Others and then out to dinner at Cafe Cluny. We were both really nervous, until halfway through dinner when I put my hand on his arm and he smiled and we realized it was ON.

After a year and a half of dating, Alex moved into my apartment, and during an uncharacteristically crafty moment, I made this “I love my roommate” T-shirt with fabric paint and stencils.

Happy anniversary, Alex. I love you so much.

(Also, I just realized you wear a blue button down 99% of the time.)

P.S. A surprising marriage tip.

Happy belated anniversary joanna! It is better late than never, right? I came from another side of the world and due to a difference in our cultures, I used to think that your post won’t relate mine. But boy, I was wrong! I am religiously read your post everyday for 5 years and keep pushing the previous button to see your older post I haven’t read. Thank you for writing various things. Once again happy anniversary and many more happy years ahead for your family!
Ps : I actually name my boy Tobias which was inspired by your boy’s name ( I hope it doesn’t sound creepy, it’s just that we love how Toby’s ringing in our ears)

  3. So sweet! It’s so fun to look through old pictures! I think that’s why I love photo albums so much! Which I really need to get on the ball and make ours. Haha!

I feel like I’ve been growing up alongside you – I discovered your blog early on and celebrated my 7th anniversary this summer (been together 9 years), and had my daughter and son around the same time as Toby and Anton. It’s been fun watching your family grow and being inspired by your intentional love for your husband and kids. Thank you for your sincerity and thoughtfulness!

My husband and I celebrate our 7th anniversary on Monday. I’ve been following you for about 7 or 8 years now! We’ve gone through a lot of the same milestones at the same times, which is why your posts resonate so much with me. I feel like you are a good friend! Sometimes I’m telling someone about something you posted, and I find myself wanting to say, “my friend Joanna posted this great thing…” Thank you for sharing your life with us! I really look forward to reading every day. I would be so sad if you ever stopped blogging.
