I love Soko – they work with women artisans to create beautiful handmade jewellery. This empowers the women and drives social and economic development in their communities. Win win!

  2. I love the islands colorful necklace you have posted. I also am intrigued by the indigo necklace – it makes me think I can turn a skinny iridescent woven scarf I have into a major accessory with a few artfully placed knots. Inspired!

I usually wear necklaces I both design and create. That way something always matches my mood or outfit! :) they’re available on my Etsy shop, inspirĂ©ebys at https://www.etsy.com/shop/inspireebys and these and other custom designed pieces are enjoyed around the USA.

Happy to collaborate with other awesome bloggers and designers, and I LOVE catching up on Cup of Jo , especially in the Friday afternoon work week lull :). Cheers!

A dear friend of mine just started a beautiful line of functional, non toxic jewelry. Perfect for mothers like me who love jewelry but have a four year old, two year old, and six moth old tugging, biting, pulling… Her story is heartbreaking and amazing. I’m sharing this because I am so proud of her courage, determination, and also really love her product!

I love this collection of necklaces. I think necklaces are the perfectly elegant way to enhance outfits that lean more towards the class side. I love to pair statement necklaces with crew neck sweaters and simple tanks. They give your outfit edge without overdoing it.

I love the Jones Market too and have two of their necklaces. The are casual but dress up an outfit at the same time and great customer service.

  13. Brooklyn Flea has some stands that sell necklaces like the Multi Island and Gradient Island options above.

One of my very dear friends is a jewelry designer… she makes bohemian jewelry that everyone I know loves and wears constantly! http://jenniferkahnjewelry.com/

I totally agree. For me a necklace and a simple ring (usually stuff I aquire from thirft stores/flea markets) is what I try to add to any outfit to spice it up a bit. Sometimes I will try and add some studs.

I like ones you have up-not to chunky or fussy; most of mine are dressy which is fine for work and a very nice out but thats it. These are easy to put on and can go anything. I’ll keep an eye out for similar ones.

love all of these! love the one statement necklace look.

jumping on the bandwagon of recommendations but owlkill studio in upstate NY makes some really nice simple pieces as well – i have a few of their necklaces and always get compliments on them when i wear with just a simple tee (or crewneck sweater in the fall) :)

Need Supply is local for me and a great store! Might have to see if they have the Chock a Block necklace on display :-)

I own the tiny bar necklace from Minoux that you pictured. It goes with everything and makes a t-shirt and jeans kind of outfit feel a little extra pretty :)
I’m a big fan of that type of jewellery. I also love the Madewell arrow necklace. Simple, goes with everything.

    • Yay! Amy, I’m so glad you’re enjoying your necklace, and thank you for leaving such a sweet message :)

I’m a necklace woman all the year long! It makes a big difference in a simple shirt or dress.

  20. my friend whitney makes incredible necklaces – she gave me one for my birthday a few years back and i wear it all the time. it instantly makes me feel like some sort of casual fashion girl even if i’m cruising around in a stained old target t-shirt. https://www.etsy.com/shop/AnethumJewelry

Bohemian Fringe on Etsy. Very lightweight and affordable.

  22. Molly says...

Love this post, but curious where the tank/dress in the photo is from?

  23. Cami says...

Do you mind me asking what brand the charcoal colored tank is? Love it with that necklace!

  24. I love these necklaces. May I also recommend Mercurial NYC’s “bling ring” necklace. I find the little fist so unique and it looks awesome with everything.

  25. Mary says...

I second The Jones Market! I throw one on with whatever I’m wearing almost every day.

  26. Love the simplicity of all of these statement necklaces. The indigo knotted rope necklace is gorgeous! I have a line made with organic cotton jersey and I’m working on incorporating something similar to my collection (knotted braided cotton and a tassel). Lightweight, adjustable and effortless.

  27. Julie says...

I LOVE this type of necklace, and have been looking for a big bead one like the first one you listed, forever! Great post!

    • Rachel Stevens!! This must be you. Nice to run into you on the internet, miss you so much IRL!!! <3 <3 <3

I love the sweet, delicate jewelry that seems to be popular right now, especially the layered look. I have never been into chunky, modern costume jewelry, so this new feminine, romantic, delicate jewelry (rings, necklaces and bracelets) are right up my alley. I thought I was over gold, but it seems to be making a comeback and I like it again. I would love to see a post of some of the designers that are selling this jewelry.

    • Joanna Goddard says...

i’m the same way. always so happy when more delicate jewelry comes back into style:)
